I wonder if a team representative was in attendance of game 5 of the Gagarin Cup finals with a contract ready to go, and accosted him in the dressing room after the game to get him to sign it.

I had to look up what a European Assignment Clause was.

It doesn't mean that Sim won't go to the AHL, but like a lot of us expected, it gives him some control over how long he'll eat soggy sandwiches on long bus rides. Gives him the right to say that he'd rather go back to Russia at some point.

I hope Simashev and But have clauses where if they don't make the Utah Hockay Club in Sept-Oct they have the Option to go back and play in the KHL again instead of the step down AHL!!!It would be better for their development in my books...no sense being cannon fodder for AHLgoons!!!

I'm excited to see how it all goes down.

Although I wouldn't be shocked to see both/one of them spend a little time in the AHL to get used to the NA game and playing top line minutes for a bit, I don't think they'd be there long.

If I were a betting man though, I think they both make the NHL roster out of camp. Tourigny has done great with teaching our younger players, so doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Besides, But dominated our rookie camp last year. MVP.

BA is known to be patient with prospects though, likes to overcook. Can't figure what he thinks would be best for these two and their situations.

Hope Anton But's kid has a out clause to head back to the Motherland if he doesn't crack the opening night roster in Sept-Oct 2025!!! But plays RWing and the Utah hockey club...Mammoth have Dylan Guenther,Nick Schultz,Josh Doan...Kevin Stenlund or Daniil But patrolling the 4th line?And with Vadim Moroz' contract with Minsk, Belarus in KHL finishing in the 2025-26 season...he's another RWinger...and is statistically better than young Daniil

Better to have Simashev back in the Motherland than patrolling the LDefense position and being 7-8th in the pecking order

With Iginla,Beaudoin and But vying to make the opening night roster...Beaudoin gets sent back...young Iginla makes the squad and young But gets...wonder who Armstrong and scouts take with the gimmy 4th pick by Bettman...Martone? "Steve" McQueen...Caleb Desnoyers is my choice for them...though Martone is enticing for the LWing...
