Utah Hockey Club trademark applications denied in search for permanent name (mod warning post 48)

Here are my ideas. If they use any, I would appreciate $50,000 USD and some form of royalty payments.

1 - The Abominable Hockey Club Of Utah
A play off of the Abominable Snowman, aka the Yeti. They can use a Yeti as their logo without having to use the word "Yeti".

2 - The Utah Yetays
It's the same thing spelled in a stylized manner. They can invent a backstory about how Yetays aren't normal Yetis, they are Yetis who play hockey.

3 - Utah Young Enterprising Thugs (on) Ice aka Y.E.T.I.
The mascot is a street smart Yeti who is trying to get his DJ business off of the ground. They can come up with a rap and stuff that the players can sing in promotion videos. Can you imagine Logan Cooley spitting rhymes about how he is going to start an Etsy side-hustle when he is done scoring goals on all the other suckers in the NHL?

Might be a dumb question, but could they not just appeal this decision and make a case against the ruling?

It feels kinda farfetched that Utah Yeti(s) would ever be confused with the Yeti cooler brand. Two things very far a part in my view

go based off a 14 or 16 point Elk, which is their state animal.

Utah Imperial(s)
Utah Monarch(s)

Could make for some cool sweater designs too

The thing I'll always say is that we all got used to the Wild as a team name. Imagine that name being announced in the age of social media.

Even Yeti(s) haters will get used to that by 2030 if they go that route.

we all know there is some knucklehead who barely watches hockey that will have an extremely strong opinion around "of course Utah picked the yetis, cause yetis are white"

of course making the assumption that a mythical creature is a certain anything is hilarious

Im a fan of Utah Raptors since that's the species of raptor that's been popularized in movies

mammoth is fine. People may complain its just a copy of Toronto Raptors but how many sport's teams are named after raptors? We can do one more

Sounds like you the one making assumptions homie

Is there a particular reason they didn't keep the Coyotes branding? Do they not own the rights or maybe they thought recycling a "failed" franchise branding would have a negative impact?

I always liked the Coyotes color scheme/logos/name and they had some of the coolest jerseys in Hockey over the years. Kind of a waste to throw it all in the trash.

Because part of the deal was the Coyotes branding and name remained with Alex Meruelo if he was to reactivate the franchise in Arizona within a five year period.

Since that didn't happen the naming, logos etc. reverted back to the NHL's control.
