We complain about it but the lineups are still long with people wilfully bending over... even at the movie theater.

The only saving grace currently for the Flames is happy hour before the game where you can get things cheaper ($5 for a beer, I believe there are a couple cheap food options as well). Not the best since the deal ends 30 minutes prior to game time, but at least there is an option.

In the arena? I don't believe so, the concessions are super generic, best thing is the ice-cream and pocket dawgs.

The new arena should bring in a bunch of different concessions, but then when I think of the prices I just shutter to think how overpriced it will all be.

They won't especially not seattle after that billion dollar cost it took to redo key arena into what it is today.

They're a new team trying to build a fan base. Utah having a profitable franchise is in the NHL's best interest, even if they get revenue sharing for the early years.

Especially when you consider that existing owners got paid $6 million each (that they don't have to share with players) by Utah as a "relocation fee."

I think Ford Hall before the game is cheaper, but at the end of the day going to a sporting event people should know the price and quality if horrendous.

Even if you barely have time between work and getting to the game. Probably best making an extra sandwich and eating it before you leave work or once you park at the arena.

I mean they totally are going to increase the prices massively in a couple of years, lol. This is just to get people hooked on the experience.

I'll never understand why people go to a sporting event and order a full meal like this. I guess it might just be people who didn't have time to eat dinner beforehand, but I often see people with multiple rounds of food and it always confuses me.

People who didn’t have time to eat beforehand is common, and also some people view a trip to the game as a one-off event where the food is part of the fun. If you’re only doing it once in a rare while, the exorbitant prices aren’t any more of a big deal than they are at a theme park.

But this dynamic does go a long way to explain why football tailgating makes so much sense. Get to the event early, make a full-blown picnic out of it on your own budget. Unfortunately it only works on weekends and only in places with plenty of space around the arena.

Anyway, good on Utah for catering to rhe fans early. Pull people in and let them fall in love with the game instead of grousing about getting gouged at every step. They’re not dumb, they now the price increases are coming, but at least let there be a honeymoon first.

It's hilarious too that a $1 to make hot dog for $3 is today considered a bargain. I'm sure in 1-2 years they'll be up to like $6-$7+.

hot dogs don't even cost $1 to make, the only reasons dollar dogs aren't a profit is labor. Like I can buy a dozen buns, a dozen dogs and a bottle or mustard for less than $10
