Seems like mostly PTSD from this season littered with defensive injuries. Either way hopefully he doesn't get nearly as many games next season between Simashev, Duda, and Szuber.

I was thrilled with the Maatta, Kerfoot and Veggie extensions. This one I didn't want. He's doing a fine job, he's just old and slow, and neither of those variables are gonna turn around.

I wonder what this means for Simashev and Valimaki.

Edit: I guess there's no need to worry about Valimaki. He can spend next year in Tucson if needed.

I would much rather have Cole than Valimaki as a 6/7 dman. Cole can actually play defense.

Even in the worst case scenario it’s good insurance to have him around. If we get hit with the injury bug again, I’d rather have Cole on the team over a lot of other defensemen in the league. Though ideally we stay more or less healthy and eventually our young guys push him out of the lineup.

Agreed, Injury insurance, and vet D solid on D for last pairing. D men take time to develop, we won't have to rush our young D now.
