Depends on the player and the ask.I think going big game hunting on the UFA market is a bad idea.
That's where critical mistakes are made.

Isn't getting the kind of C we want and need big game hunting? Who are you thinking for that C?I agree with Lanky...I think all the team needs is another C to go with Cooley & Hayton & McBain and another goalie that can put up consistent .910 seasons.
We've got good wingers in Keller/Schmaltz/Guenther/But/Iginla
Let the kids continue to mature...team is going to be really, really good in 2 years.
I agree. BA finally said that he expects the team to make the playoffs next year. I think any upgrade of D will come within. We need goals, and a 1st line C. My opinion of course. You don't trade a 7.8 million cap hit for the next season with the intention of sitting on your hands. I think there are players out there either through trade or free agency that BA and staff are strongly considering.
I think it's more likely that we find a fit via trade. Not easy though. They don't get traded often.Isn't getting the kind of C we want and need big game hunting? Who are you thinking for that C?
I think for sure Utah needs a 1C to be a SC contender. Maybe not a high 1C, but a 1C.I think it's more likely that we find a fit via trade. Not easy though. They don't get traded often.
Also, I don't think we need a top six C to be a contender. It's just our most obvious weakness - beyond our inexperience.
At what threshold will you consider Cooley to be a 1C?I think for sure Utah needs a 1C to be a SC contender. Maybe not a high 1C, but a 1C.
I think he is now, or damn close. Utah still needs another. At what threshold will you consider Cooley to be a 1C?
The crew around here was down on him because it didn't work out. He doesn't fit this team identity. Much like Mattias Maccelli. Doesn't make them bad players.Reading through this thread - I didn't see anything positive about Soderstrom - general consensus was wasted pick and good riddance.
Well - hopefully he's turned his career around because he was just voted the SHL's top defenseman.

Seems to a simple solution - Rinzel starts in the A until somebody gets hurt. Or Levshunov.Word on the street says he's interested in an extension and coming back to NHL next season. The challenge with that is there isn't a spot for him in the starting lineup on the right side with Connor Murphy one more year left on his contract and both rookies Levshunov and Rinzel looking very good. I doubt he would come over to play in the AHL ... so we'll see.

Could carry all four and rotate. Would keep the pressure off the rookies but still give them opportunity.True, but both of them look very good and ready for the NHL. The best solution, in my opinion, is to get rid of stumblefoot Murphy - talk about addition by subtraction.

We didn't give him a chance. We wanted him to be something he wasn't. I wish him the best!Reading through this thread - I didn't see anything positive about Soderstrom - general consensus was wasted pick and good riddance.

End of story because you say so?His game didn’t translate to the NHL well…. Period.

I think Soderstrom's NHL story is far from over.
No..... I'm saying it based on what he has done to date.
I'm also going by all the highlight reels we saw of him in the SHL after he was drafted and how lots of Coyotes posters (including me) were salivating over it..... and by the time he got to the NHL he was a turnover machine.
Arizona even sent people while he was still in Sweden to work with him on what it was going to take and it obviously didn't work.
Sure.... he might end up being one of those guys who ends up going through 3-4 different teams before he finds one he can click on. BA doesn't have the luxury of waiting and he's already had chances to see what he could do.
