I wonder if Panthers #74 Asplund ever read on HFBoards about Geekie's poor skating.
I was looking forward to seeing Geekie on the Yotes / HC. Think he will be a solid #2 C. Unfortunately it was the price to pay to land Sergachev.I know it's only a preseason game, but it had already stung enough losing Geekie

Sergachev can be a mess in his own zone as well. He isn't always consistent himself.

I think both teams are gonna win. I’m more optimistic on Sergachev than seemingly anyone is. But I also really like Geekie and Moser.

It hurt to give up Geekie but I think it was a wise move.
Bringing in Sergachev doesn't only improve our defense. He can also help Simachev and But transition to North America and help make sure they're happy playing in Utah, not wanting to leave for somewhere else, or decide not come over at all. To help avoid the "Russian factor."
Should be a good veteran mentor.

Sergachev is big, young and has tons of playoff experience and two SC's. Those are intangibles which you can not teach. Hopefully his injury doesn't hurt his play. Geekie is the wild card in all of this.

Losing Geekie hurt. But it's not like the team doesn't have other exciting forward prospects in the pipeline. You have to suffer some pain to get real assets in a trade, and Sergachev is a real asset.

I think Geekie is going to be a star! An elite #1C. I used to feel differently, but this player has grown a lot on me in the last year after his performance at the World Jrs.

I find Serg to be very hesitant on making plays… when he is sure of himself, he is elite, but his hesitation has cost us some goals for sure..

IMO Sergachev has looked mostly great with a few hiccups. Just a few things to work out. Could be a lot worse.

You also have to remember he’s coming off a broken leg. He might still be tentative in certain situations.

I’ve been happy with sergachev and I expected a slower start where he’d need time to acclimate. So I’d say I’m pleasantly surprised by sergachev so early in the season.
