Don't let his Uncle hear you diss him.I post this every time he gets waived, but Mermis is still the dumbest name I've ever heard.
Not without passing thru waivers again.Filling a D spot in Tucson.
Utah is currently down 3 of their top 6 D after losing Bortuzzo the other night. Durzi and Marino have no timeline yet for a return.
Kolyachonok is filing in tonight and Kevin Connaution was just recalled from Tucson to fill the 7th spot.
He meant that having Mermis in the press box allows for Connauton to get back to helping Tucson. Not without passing thru waivers again.
Mer-men belong in the water. He is playing on top of frozen water. The fact that he made it this far is remarkable, stop being a hater. He is not an NHL player, look to the main difference in the Wild’s GA this year vs last year and then add the previous seasons where he didn’t play. Jake Middleton’s splits with Mermis vs Faber and Spurgeon is as drastic as you can get.
Takes bad angles, doesn’t trust his teammates and generally runs around like a headless chicken in his own zone. Good skater and flashes puck skills now and again, but not an offensive producer at this level.
He signed a 1-way deal with the Leafs.Good result. Mermis had no shot with the Leafs. Maybe he'll play with Utah, and if not at least he'll draw an NHL salary.
Escrow isn’t really a big deal this season. Anything the players pay into escrow is likely to be given back as the the players salaries this season are expected to come in under the 50/50 revenue split. He signed a 1-way deal with the Leafs.
In fact, he would get more money in the AHL (no escrow).
