Also if we're splitting hairs on quarter century... Joel Ward obviously has to be in there as a 1st team. One of the most well-known/long NHL careers (over 700 games) to come out of CIS 01-05 with UPEI.

Always enjoyed watching Clapperton play. I remember his first game with the UNB came over the Christmas Break/Pete Kelly Cup in 15-16. He had instant chemistry with the team and went on to score a huge goal in U Cup final vs X

He was part of two of the best lines in recent UNB memory…first with Braes and Maillet and then with Boland and Anderson.

A fifth year for him in 19-20 (minus the pandemic) with Boland and Anderson is one of those what could've beens. That team was scary good. Have to feel for alot of those guys in 19-20 and 20-21. Anderson and Mciver were going for ring #4 and they had the team to get it done.

Clapperton might be the most mechanically skilled player I can think of at UNB.
The 6th forward was a hard choice , Keating , Bailey, Lindsay , Dickson , Boland etc ..
If Kevin Young stuck around I’m sure he would have taken one of the D slots.

I could be misremembering but I think 2020 was looking super promising with some top teams getting beaten early, potentially leaving UNB with an “easier “ path before it got cancelled?

Alberta was upset in the CW playoffs so they weren’t there. Then #2 Saskatchewan got beat by Western the first day of the tournament. UNB was looking at UBC/Ottawa or Acadia/SMU or Western.

Sure, I'll bite!

Waterloo

Yup that lines up with what I remember.
I’m sure it was 10x worse for the players but that day sure did suck.

I was talking to a Western players parents that afternoon and they were saying how their other son was playing in the OHL and he had just called to say the league was shutting down.
In that moment I knew I had driven to Halifax for no reason 😂

I was doing Player of the Game picks and recall the "smallish" crowd for the SMU game. I went down to the volunteer area and couldn't find Chris Larsen, Kevin Dickie or anyone.
Someone said they were all at a meeting. That's when I got a funny feeling in my gut.
Driving home, my phone was beeping madly with texts from various people asking questions or passing info.

That UNB team was the best I can ever recall.

I think the team that lost to Alberta in Moncton gives them a run but I agree.

Tremblay and Hennigar were absolute money.
