US women won last night over Mexico in the U20 Womens World Cup 3-2, extra time goal

For a team that couldn't even get out of the group stage last cycle this is pretty big.

US had an incredible comeback coming behind from 0-2 down in late, late stoppage time, literally a minute left when they scored to break the deadlock. Then another one in quick succession in the very late stages of stoppage time.

Game ended up going to PK's where USA won 3-1 on penalties and advanced to the semifinals against North Korea.

North Korea being in a semi of any kind is amazing but an age group semi makes me wonder if they made some kind of fundamental change at the grassroots? Normally age group tourneys belong to those with the bigger player pools or specialized academies.

Not really a whole lot of surprises in there. Couldn't expect wholesale for the first camp, I suspect next camp we'll see more of his stamp on the roster

I did raise an eyebrow seeing Steffen back, but with seemingly all of our goalies having issues, I'm not opposed to bringing him back.

......2 hours? Really?

"Camp has been good, it's been intense," Ream said on the "Player/Manager" podcast.

"I think we were out on the field today for two hours, which is probably the longest training session I've had with the national team in my 14 years."

I would rate the game as fine. Though Musah finally getting an international goal is great.

i think Morris can be a solid squad player but he made a few passes to Busio and Aaronsson which they put them in a situation where they imediatly turned it over. Don’t love Musah as a RW but I think the broadcast explained the reasoning well. Just hope it’s not a long term thing.

yeah that was the worst half we've played against Mexico in a while, had absolutely nothing going. Doesn't help that this ref is ass

1-0 in the first leg. Decent game from the US. Actually keeping a clean sheet away is a good start. Absolutely terrible pitch, which didn’t help either team.

I watched the game while listening to the NFL game. I could not believe how casually the announcer on Fubo said "Ream with a little chicken wing". A chicken wing is not a natural position and then Ream moves his arm/elbow towards the ball while having his arm in an unnatural position. VAR is useless. Big let off on what is once of the worst pitches in CONCACAF.

Should be able to handle Jamaica on a proper pitch.

I’m not even sure this match had VAR. I don’t remember them even delaying play for a check.
