Both gimmicks are meaningless hockey, while one only wastes a single weekend. Seems like a pretty simple decision to me.

The arguments against this proposal make no sense.

"Just win your division." Not only are you faulting a team for being in the same division with a better record, you are rewarding a team in a shitty division with a worse record.

"Divisions need to matter." They do matter when the winner of each division is guaranteed a playoff spot. I would argue they don't matter when a mediocre team gets a home game being king of shit mountain.
