Next season is the one where the Oilers win the cup

Or at least get the the final dance.

The Hall trade was exactly what that team needed. It showed that anyone can be replaced. People were saying guys on their way out were going to be the ones traded. This is going to be a motivated team, as I believe the players know they are a better team.

Some important facts:

Center depth. McDavid scored at a PPG pace. Draisatl did as well, although I think he finds himself on the 3rd line this year as he discovers what he'll be in the NHL. That's alright though, as they have RNH to take tons of assignments. They have arguably the best C depth in the NHL at this point after the pens and kings. Not to mention tons of wing talent.

Defense. Klef is the real deal, and so is Larrson. The trade was over reacted too simply due to the hype of Hall being the start of their rebuild and Larsson taking a few years to find himself. This gives them two legit top pairing D. While they may not still have that true #1, I think with their offense they will be able to out speed and out score a lot of teams, similarly to how the pens dominated the league this year.

Goaltending. Finally they have steady goaltending. Improvements to defense will already make his job easier.

Lucic is a big deal. Yes, I think in a few years that contract will not look good, but to quote Ducks and Leafs legend Dave Nonis 'I'm not worried about years 6 and 7, I'm worried about year 1". Lucic is here to play, and he still can. He is going to provide something that has been missing on the Oilers. He's going to allow their stars to be stars.

IMO, the Oilers are going to take the league by storm this year. Remember this was a team who lost their top 2 C's to injury most of the year last year.

I honestly don't think other teams are going to be able to contain the speed and skill of the Oilers.

Edit: I am not an Oiler fan Don't take it out on them, this is my opinion.
