I was surprised last night at the game to find out Giolito was pitching, as this cell phone is utter garbage and goes to 25% battery after 4 hours, meaning I can't tweet or reddit or do anything other than take pictures and snapchats. I was sitting in my customary perch high above the field and the TV scoreboard indicates his debut was tomorrow, and I was very stunned.
How quickly they grow up. It seemed only yesterday that Giolito was in A advanced last year, pitching for our Potomac Nationals. I had the chance to meet him last year, and I'll always say, it was such a cordial experience because he stayed and signed for everyone that day. He was kind enough to personalize an autographed ball (Most players don't even have the time to personalize one, when I got Zimmermann's autograph it was just RZ written hastily on the ball) so I still have it in the shelf of collectibles, with the inscription of the signee and the date it was signed.
He is a very nice young man and I only wish I could see him in town tonight but I can't go to three games in a row. So I will be intently listening on the radio tonight as he makes his debut, and I wish him the best of luck.
