I didn't realise until I was on a re-watch how bad the scene was, probably because I was too distracted by Ed Sheeran the first time

It was like Arya had completely forgotten what happened in season 2 and that The Mountain's men (The Tickler, Polliver etc.) existed

It's up there as one of the very worst scenes along with any time the Sand Snakes were on screen (except the part where she shows Bronn her tits) or any scene with Tommen or Margaery and the High Sparrow in the party room in Season 6

4 minute clip and I can't make it through because I have this urge to scream "Who f***ing cares, none of this matters", which holds true for way too many character's storylines

I'm pretty sure season 6 is when I started to check out

My first instance of scepticism that they were going to completely butcher the story was Barristan Selmy's death in season 5, and then I was legitimately angry when Stannis completely lost his marbles overnight, burned Shireen and then tried to conduct a hopeless siege

Parts of season 6 somewhat made up for it, although I became much more nitpicky

What was very telling though was that in between season 5 and 6 all the talk was about whether Jon Snow was dead or not, even though this was a show where main protagonists had previously been killed off for good

This was a clear illustration that the show wasn't itself anymore

Then in the start of season 6, Davos has read the script so he very unsubtly goes to Melisandre (you must know some... MAGIC eh? wink wink nudge nudge, this is the part where you bring him back to life) even though at this point he has no real established connection or any reason to have this undying loyalty to Jon

I remember f***Olly being one of the first fandom things that really annoyed me.

Partially because it was so obvious that Jon was going to be revived, also it's such a stupid circlejerk that comes across as a childish overreaction to seeing something you didn't like.

We all saw the same show and we get it, this character turned evil. There doesn't need to be an entire movement around hating a character that is supposed to be hated.

I can't remember if that was a thing first with f***Tammy among the Rick and Morty fans, but they're both equally stupid and annoying.

In neither show was Olly or Tammy written to be liked after they turned heel. You're reacting in the way the writers intended, so just shut the f*** about it.

What, would you prefer that no one ever turns bad? Then people will just bitch about the show being boring and predictable by misusing trope buzzwords like "plot armor" and "Mary Sue"

I also remember Hardhome being the last time I actually felt any real tension about a main character being in any actual danger

When Arya gets stabbed by The Waif I do remember slightly thinking surely not? They wouldn't have the balls to kill her would they? So there was some second guessing but deep down I knew she would make a miraculous recovery even though she'd spent all that time in shitty canal water with an open wound

Khal Drogo, the only person in the world of Game of Thrones to die from an infected wound

That was also one of the many reasons why The Long Night was such a disappointing episode

The only named characters to actually die were Jorah and Beric, which completely rendered all the build up and sense of hopelessness from the previous episode pointless. That was the only episode of season 8 I actually liked because it was sad and felt like a proper goodbye to some beloved characters who would surely die.

Even though the likes of Brienne, Jaime and Sam are getting swarmed all over by the undead, you just don't get anything resembling a sense of feeling that they could actually be in any danger

I probably missed a lot of the stupid bullshit by not paying attention and being overwhelmed the amount of shit that would happen in a single episode.

Similar to Rise of Skywalker, so much shit happens that you feel like it's your fault for missing something when there's stuff that makes no sense, when in reality, it makes no sense, so they try to distract you by having a lot of shit happen.

Does anyone else find it unsettling when you're reading/listening to a book and there are references to modern celebrities (Connor McGregor the example which has made me notice this)

I know it's normal for films and TV but in a book it just seems... wrong

Because books are usually old
I was reading the 60 second interview in the Metro recently and it was with a children's author (I think, I can't remember her name but I think that's right) and she said she mentioned Trisha in one of her books and cringed at it now because it was basically meaningless

Pop culture references in literature (and media) aren't unusual but then typically the reputation of the creator will determine whether it's an intelligent cross section of contemporary life or entirely unoriginal, pandering nonsense

Duolingo with another classic phrase

"A speed camera was chewed by a bear yesterday"

There are no bears in Wales and why would one chew a speed camera anyway

According to some "theorists", the bears may have been trained and sent there for that exact purpose...
