Also, how many times did Fleury shit the bed in the playoffs and get relegated to backup.

And you could say Matt Murray was outplaying him over stretches of time

I'll just lay my cards out on the table, I still hate Fleury for 2009.

That whole series was infuriating.
  1. Goal off an uncalled icing in game 7.
  2. Penguins playing with 6 men for like 25 seconds.
  3. Having to see Tyler Kennedy's ugly mug.
  4. Malkin gets a game misconduct in the last minutes of game 2, but the automatic suspension was revoked almost immediately.
  5. Having a 2-0 series lead before losing two straight and then a 3-2 series lead before losing two straight.
  6. That overrated sequence where Brooks Orpik checks a bunch of 4th liners and the crowd goes wild, even though he fails to cause a turnover or even touch the puck while pinned in their own zone with their 1st line on the ice.

Obviously you're not fabricating a cabinet, so I would like to assume you're talking about some Ikea furniture

some dude on the main boards argued Fleury should be an option for top goalie of the past decade based on SV%, GAA, wins and GP

i argued he shouldn't because of his GAR and GSAX

he said it's my choice to only look at these stats

as if his stats were more telling

hilarious

Fleury is a sure fire HOF'er.

You don't need analytics to see that Fleury massively benefited from being on nothing but cup contenders.

He's a great goalie, but he was rarely carrying an entire team on his back, like some other goalies.

Truth be told is that there is no such thing as a goalie who benefits from being on a great team.

Exactly. Above average goalie (but not goalie) propelled to new heights in terms of fan perception due to his team.

Kinda like Vasilevskiy (although Vasi is better).

In reality Fleury was like in the 8-15 range, Vasilevskiy mostly in the 5-8 range.

Goalies make their teams better, not the other way around.

I don't see what your point is in relation to my post.

I know that it's all perception. Dupuis was not a better player due to playing with Crosby (although maybe Crosby's tips and teaching may have helped). He simply appeared better.

Same thing with goalies who play for a defense that allows very few scoring chances in relation to other teams.

Truth be told is that all teams allow roughly the same number of high danger chances per 60 minutes.
