thanks brother.

btw I definitely want to go on a cruise next summer. I'll be taking a look and booking well ahead of time, not sure where we want to go yet.

and fwiw I have no problem whatsoever with Pittsburgh as a city, nor do I have anything against the Pirates (the only one that hates the Pirates is Bob Nutting tbh) or Penguins. It's just that football team.

There are extraneous factors for me personally that make it impossible to work a solid block of time, at any one time, except for overnight which is impossible for other reasons. Those factors might clear up in a couple years, or they might not.
Let me know if you have any questions about your prospective cruise. And I agree about Nutting.......sadly the Marlins owner is just as bad if not worse

They were. The work is great. There are things, outside of work, that very much complicate the work situation.

OH MY GOD I f***ING LOVED THESE!

Porkchop sandwiches

Gotcha. Hope it works out.

I work for a fully remote company. Small company, < 100 employees for context.

I had a new boss start yesterday. Their schedule is apparently 9-4 PST and their calendar is literally entirely blocked out outside of those hours. Given most of our company is EST based… I don’t see how this works out.

New boss is part of leadership and in a meeting heavy role. Not available until 12 where leadership lives. Yeah…….

Not that I would know anything about it but most companies especially in the remote era are fine with flex scheduling as long as you work during core hours. IE as long as you collaborate with your manager you could technically work 6 to 2 if you wanted. Including lunch. That's 8 hours.

what. the f***. Yeah that's not going to work, 12-7 EST with no availability otherwise?

We have some developers in the Middle East and Europe, and we have to have early morning meetings with them only but they are really good about making themselves available even if they have to work late.

Individual contributor role fine who cares. But not the case.

why over 40

work flex hours 7-3

day over

I always like how people complain and work odd hours like 3 to midnight @Sega Dreamcast

you can work regular normal people hours

7-3

8-4

and so on

I can't roll my eyes any harder at your outright inability to understand the working world.

You say "Just work better hours", when the majority of people have no say in what their hours are.

"Odd hours like 3 to midnight"

That's called afternoon shift.

Shift - noun - one of two or more recurring periods in which different groups of workers do the same jobs in relay

Job - noun - a paid position of regular employment

Employment - noun - an occupation by which a person earns a living

they might be for many software developer positions, but for a lot of other jobs that's not the case.
