the problem with this is that there are people who's whole job is to do SOMETHING IMPORTANT, but they don't do ANYTHING. NOTHING AT ALL.

If you wanted someone that did nothing all day then hire me.

Your job is to DO SOMETHING. Do it.
Hope you are having a good day my friend

Trying to find out why this one script runs on one server, but fails on every other server.

I don't know shit about Perl, but it's a .pm file, so there must be something calling these functions I'm looking at.

However, it's not calling the right function. I pass it one argument and it tries to execute a function that takes 2 arguments

Perl is f***ing horrible. I'm sorry you have to look at it.

Is it object-oriented Perl? Do you have any "bless" statements anywhere in the code? If so that could easily explain the argument parameter difference.

Team Aqua (Japanese: アクア団 Aqua-dan, literally Aqua Gang) is one of two villainous teams found in the Hoenn region, alongside their rivals, Team Magma. In Generation III, Team Aqua's ultimate goal is to expand the amount of water in the world while in Generation VI, they are trying to return the world to a state for Pokémon by awakening Kyogre to wipe out human civilization and return the world to its beginnings, so that Pokémon can live untainted by humanity's progress.

Yes, there was a bless statement.

It sucks that this script would be immensely helpful and time-saving, but I can't get it to work anywhere else

Yes, there was a bless statement.

It sucks that this script does exactly what I want, but I can't get it to work anywhere else
If that's the case are you sure this method isn't a member function? Is it called with something like $ref->func($onearg), which resolves into something like func(ref, onearg) in the prototype if I remember my Perl correctly (haven't used it in around 6 years)?

I'm not at work anymore, but that's possible.

I think the part that really confused me had it directing stuff to the command line and then also referencing an external function.

Python was invented basically because of how f***ing confusing and convoluted Perl is.

If you're NOT confused when reading Perl code, that code is either incredibly simple or incredibly well-documented...and if any group of people are known for always effectively communicating their thoughts via the written word, it's programmers.

It definitely doesn't help that it's part of these proprietary software packages we run.

If there even is documentation, you have to go find it, but, for the most part, you're on your own
