I’d say the mods should go on strike but everyone would realize how worthless they are in that scenario. Better to just quit.

A.J Burnett was for a long time, one of the workhorse righties with an ability to eat up innings. He did so at a consistent clip, limiting the long ball with his power arm.
In 2008, Burnett won 18 games for the Blue Jays, leading the league in games started and innings pitched. But what followed this campaign were three horrendous years, years that’d cost the Yankees money, even when he was gone.
Burnett’s contract haunted the Yankees franchise. Over three seasons with the club he posted a 34-35 record with a 4.79 earned run average. Not bad, really. But not $80 million good. Especially when you consider only one of those seasons, was productive.

The Carl Pavano one takes me back though because he was legitimately bad

Didn't he have a heroic opening day or fill in start for Moose

That article is so dumb. Burnett was better in 2009 than he was in 2008. Don’t think there are any Yankee fans upset they paid Burnett $80 million to be a perfectly cromulent #2 starter for a World Series champion.

Every time Burnett started he provided more value to the world than any internet mod ever has.

He started Opening Day 2007 and was decent but got hurt after his next start and missed the rest of the season. Probably most famous for inspiring this one thread called “Thoughts” on a forum I used to post at.

In a controversial vote, Matsui narrowly lost the Rookie of the Year Award to Ángel Berroa after two writers, Jim Souhan and Bill Ballou, refused to include him on their ballots due to his age. Yankee owner George Steinbrenner responded by pointing out that this had not prevented either writer from voting for Ichiro Suzuki or Kazuhiro Sasaki, both of whom had previously played in the NPB for several years and were the two oldest players to have received the award, and stated that he felt Matsui had been robbed.[15]
