The bar across the Caps arena has some old pinball machines which I snapped @Oogie Boogie sometimes, and a tabletop hockey bubble game

One drunken night, I watched some guy on Youtube buy a brand new one of those and installed all kinds of fun mods on it.

Took the dome off, added an overhead stadium screen, put real ads on the boards and ice, and so on

MKII was coded in bullshit designed to steal quarters though.

Seriously…the AI is so f***ed, the game forces you to spam kicks and blocks in order to win and progress up the ladder one fighter at a time…if you’re lucky.

Which sucks because MKII does look cool and has way more characters than the original. Sweet fatalities too.

Too bad it’s an unplayable rage-inducing shitfest

I always wanted to have a couple old style games in my basement when I had a basement. A great way to pass some stress free time.
I've seen some people set up a row of arcade machines in the basement, it's ridiculous

Especially when one of them costs 3500 per

No that was III

"For the first time, certain levels were interactive by allowing characters to uppercut each other through the ceiling where both characters would continue the battle in a different stage. This could alter the game's level cycle. Both normal uppercuts and uppercuts that are part of a ground combo would result in a level change. Kung Lao's "Whirl Wind Spin" move would also have the same effect. However, if the character is defeated by an uppercut, there is no level change. "

I used to play a pinball game on PC which was okay, but the truth is I don't think I've ever played pinball on those machines

The arcade games are a different story though

Holy crap this is taking me back

oh HELL YES. Played the shit out of Metal Slug, among others.

FWIW, Neo Geo AES (basically arcade hardware stuffed inside a home console) is pretty much the most collectible home game console out there. Games go from hundreds to thousands of dollars each, especially the versions outside of Japan which are generally more rare. I never knew anyone that owned one of them growing up though; it retailed at over $600 US in 1990, which I'm pretty sure is well in excess of $1,000 today.

II had stage fatalities as well.
