And the airlines don't care about your weekend plans. They know a lot of people will want to travel to see that game so as goes the law of supply and demand they can make the price as high as they want. Why do you need to go that particular weekend? Just try & find a weekend when the prices are in your range.

And of course I googled to see what events were taking place that weekend but I don't think what I found was the reason you want to go. (lets just say "pasta" would not approve!!) Again, if it is that important for you to be there, you will bite the bullet and pay the airline fares. I know you are cheap but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
