Yeah I know. A lot of these businesses are doing that. Thankfully United's rewards program actually means something, but again to qualify for premier silver or the next stage I would have to go on 3 more qualifying trips by january 2025. Meh

Reading an article right now on @GIADF Delta CEO praising new times where there is less regulation. Yeah okay. Because now businesses can do whatever they want to max out profit. Real fun.

That's the problem with businesses getting involved in politics, their desire to maximize their profits come at the expense of society.

But externalized costs requires more than two brain cells to understand, so people don't give a shit about them.

Not to defend these travel corporations because a lot of what they are doing IS scummy and very customer unfriendly, but many of them took on mountains of debt during COVID and this is the only way they know how to try & climb out of it.

Government just going to bail them out even if they did start to go under. f*** them all.
Airlines yes. Cruise lines no because they are registered in foreign countries. We got ZERO bailout $$$ during COVID thus the reason for the many cutbacks pretty much all cruise lines are doing right now. People are bitching like crazy but they are still selling like hot fire.

I don't care about cruise lines because it's the worst form of vacation.

Ain't no way I'm driving hours or taking a flight to then sit on a boat for days eating crappy food for days.

Because the overbooking incident was an isolated incident and United fixed their policies shortly thereafter

I also have no problem with Tony Hinchcliffe after he attacked an Asian comic verbally lol

people take things too serious

United fixed their policies because people took that "isolated incident" seriously.

Don't be a shortsighted fool, businesses aren't going to the do the right thing until it affects their profits.

What policies and incident are we referring to here?

An initial letter sent to United employees appeared to blame Dao, referring to him as “disruptive and belligerent,” and praised employees for following “established protocols.” But United came under fire for how it responded as the footage went viral.

United CEO Oscar Munoz later apologized, calling the encounter “truly horrific.”

Less than a month afterward, United reached a settlement with Dao without disclosing the terms.
