This is a great day not only for hockey in Latvia, but for hockey worldwide. Finally a "new" country won a WCH medal. Hopefully this will help the game grow bigger in other countries as well.

Amazing story! I very rarely get emotional when my team isn’t playing (plus I had nobody to cheer against, either - I never have anything against any US team, and this particular US team I really like) - but this feels emotional, very pleased for the Latvians. They also bring a representation of sorts of my country to the game - 8 of the Latvian players play in the Czech league! Shame for my team that the Czech players we brought from the Czech league were not nearly as good as the Latvians from our league

Spare a thought for the US team though - clearly the best team of the tournament until the semis, and then two OT losses. That’s a very tough pill to swallow, very hard on them. I’m gutted for them, but so happy for the Latvians!

Strongest team or weakest group? Hungary, France, Austria are the bottom of the tournament in either side.
