Buffalo would make the most cash for obvious reasons but they just hosted it.

Tampa Bay would get a lot of snowbirds but it would still need locals to buy tickets for the even to be successful.

Pittsburg is a great hockey town but they don't have a college team.

Give us back our H ;)

Robert Morris is in Pittsburgh, and while it isn't in Pittsburgh, Penn State plays in the Three Rivers Classic there every year (alongside Robert Morris).

Robert Morris was the host when Pittsburgh held the Frozen Four a couple years ago. I hope Pitt puts a program together eventually...but they'd need a venue first.

Tampa would be fun. I might even travel there from Sweden if the ticket prices aren't crazy expensive.

...

Yeah I know people in buffalo too. From living here for 35 years.

You are mistaken sir.

Against the United States in Buffalo. ****ing sea of red.

Same two teams at a neutral site in 2013

I don't see 300 Canada jerseys in the stands. Buffalo is NOT a neutral site or a United States home site. It's a Canada home site.

There's a big difference between lots of Canadians making the trip and claiming that there are tons of Canadian fans among the Buffalo population. That's not even close to true.

Can someone explain to me what the problem is with Canadians showing up to the games?? People act like the Canadians coming into Buffalo to see a hockey game is criminal. The objective is to get people at these games, who cares what country they are from. I think people forgot that these are teenagers playing, not professionals. Most people could give two craps about this tourny.

There's going to be a ton of Canadians invading any of those three options...though Buffalo being closest would have the most. Just to make it clear, though...those are Canadians in Buffalo, not Buffalonians that root for Canada.

This tournament is never going to be as popular in the US as it is in Canada and that's just the hard truth. I'd kill to see Olympic hockey in person...but the World Juniors? I just can't bring myself to care.

What the **** does this have to do with someone claiming that the people of buffalo root for Canada? That's offensively untrue.

I know personally Buffalo residents, Americans, who root for Canada. That doesn't mean it's the majority.

Even so, whether it's locals or invaders is hardly the point. Putting the WJC in Buffalo basically makes Canada the home team. The picture of the 2011 games doesn't lie. I'd like to see the United States host a tournament, not be the road team on their own soil.

Ok so from now on, every Sabres home game will be attended by 90% fans of the other team. Is that cool with you? As long as people are at the game right?

Canadian fans will invade no matter where it is, even overseas. That much is true. That's very different from putting the tourney spitting distance from the border.

******** on this whole nonsense. I call utter ******** on it.

I don't know one person who didn't find it hilarious that Canadians had to cross back over the border having blown that gold medal against Russia.

Spare me your " I know a guy" routine. Just spare me.

I didn't shop the photo. The last time the tournament was in Buffalo, Canada was the home team. If that's gonna happen, I'd rather not have it in Buffalo.

Hell no to FL. Nobody would show up to half the games.

I could see a few thousand Canadians taking their two week vacation and heading down to Florida to catch the WJC. Head to the beach in the morning, take in a hockey game or two in the afternoon/evening sounds like the perfect vacation to me. I mean thousands of Canadian "Snowbirds" holiday in Florida during the winter as it is.

Yes definitely, but the key word you used is "vacation." I expect some Canadian fans on vacation. But that's what it is. You have to get off work, make the trip, stay in the city in a hotel, and it costs a bunch of money.

In Buffalo, fans can wake up in Toronto, drive to the game, drive back, go to sleep in Toronto, and be at work the next day. It's way too easy.

I'm not against Canadians being at the game, but my team shouldn't have to walk out to a sea of red on their own soil.

And that picture doesn't even do it full justice.

I thought I'd read Detroit was in the mix with their upcoming new stadium. If they had/have a bid I'd consider it a strong one. Trying to be objective, without that bid I'd say Buffalo's will be the best. There's proximity to southern Ontario/Toronto, reasonable proximity to several NHL cities, the area loves hockey, and the new HARBORCenter which is connected to our arena has rinks, locker rooms, a hotel, parking, etc.

There will be a ton of Canadians anywhere you host it. Yes, there would be a ton of Canadian fans in Buffalo just like last time. The notion of actual Buffalonians rooting for Canada over the USA is absurd. Maybe that poster knows 2 people like that but that hardly represents some pocket population or anything that wouldn't exist anywhere else.

id like for tampa to get it for selfish reasons as my sister lives there but it would be a nice cheap vacation to go down there in the winter and watch some hockey.

I hear ya. My parents spend the winter in Largo which I believe is right next to Tampa. Would be an excellent excuse to go down and visit.

Is a 1,700 seat arena somewhat too small for the second arena? I would want something at least 5k. There were over 7k for the Germany Swiss relegation games this year. I still shake my head with the Russia Sweden game during the WJC in Buffalo being at Niagara.
