UPL can easily ask for Demko's contract.

UPL will get done before the date I have no doubt. They likely both will but only one of them is a really tough negotiation with so many almost equally likely outcomes in term and dollars.

AFP projects Malenstyn at 2x$1.5M AAV. 3x$2.25M AAV makes sense, as well.

AFP also has UPL at 1x$3.3M or 4x$4.7M on short term and long term deals.

That'll only happen if he makes it to his hearing......I highly, highly doubt he makes it to his hearing.

Arbitration is held today through August 4.

NHLPA has decided not to release dates of the arbitration schedule this year.

If UPL comes out of this with a one-year award and no contract or if that contract is just two years to achieve a lower cap, that will a very bad look for Buffalo. Lots of time still but Sabres have been very effective at disappointment
