The other forward prospect that might make the team is Timo Meier. He was the #9 pick in last year's draft, and had a really good season in juniors. He definitely also looks physically ready for the NHL right now. For proof of that, here's a pic of him holding the cup for winning the championship in the Q:

That fellow is ripped AF. Anyway, there's a lot of speculation he'll make the team as well. If he does
 Wow, what a ****ing weird post.

How's? James Reimer backing up Andersen when Reimer just signed with Florida it's suppose to be a realistic update of your team after free agency.

With the great pickup of Boedker, good addition of Schlemko, likely addition of Goldobin, and possible addition of Meier, I can't help but see this Sharks team in the WCF next year at least again. Adding the elite speed of Boedker and quickness of Goldobin may help a bit against a Pittsburgh-esque team again?

I'm optimistic about that but what do you think?

I'm optimistic as well but a lot depends on whether Thornton (and also Burns and Pavs) repeats last year's performance or at least comes close to it. We have better depth this year but if Thornton declines substantially, I think we could have problems. Couture would be good at 1C but unless he improves, he's not close to Thornton yet. Burns was also key so we need him to keep his excellent play during the second half of last season and the playoffs (sans the finals, where he didn't play enough with the Joes bc they were babysitting our bottom pairing).

Another factor is who makes the team. If Goldobin and Meier make the team and do well, we've got a great team, at least on paper. Goldobin is an excellent playmaker who can score and Meier is a good goalscorer whose playmaking is improving. That gives us a lot more versatility bc Couture, Marleau, and Hertl aren't the best playmakers, though they're pretty good. Boedker is also good at that. There are some other potential rookies on the team, e.g., Sorensen, Heed who could help too. But none of them may make the team, at least until someone is injured and the Sharks need a fill in.

One of the biggest factors will be injuries. If we can stay healthy, I think this is a deep team that should do well. But one never knows until the games are played. Also, none of the teams' rosters are set so it's hard to say how the Sharks will match up.

What I think we'll see to start:

Kane-ROR-Okposo
xxxxx-Eichel-Reinhart
Moulson-Girgensons-Ennis
Foligno-Larsson-Gionta

The xxxxx is Vesey's spot should he choose to sign; if not, I could see Murray pursuing Hudler, Versteeg, or Vrbata.

Will be a dangerous team. I question if the goaltending will be good enough over the season to make them a playoff team, but the forward group is pretty stacked and defense looks solid.

Don't care. Impossible to predict. Probably Fiddler, Josefson, and someone...with Josefson becoming a scratch after 10 games.

Defense: agree with yours for now, but still expect another depth signing.

We might need to trade some of our forwards for defense pretty soon. Someone on our boards had a lineup which had seven forward lines, all of which included players who could possibly make it to the NHL this year. Depth doesn't hurt, but that's way too much. Just flipping two of those guys for defensive help would be fantastic. The other need is time, for obvious reasons (plus getting rid of Stuart can't possibly happen soon enough).

Kings have the opposite problem to too many d men.

Purcell - Kopitar - Gaborik
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
King - Lewis - Brown
Clifford - Andreoff - Latta
Nolan will probably start on IR.

If Lehner can stay healthy and plays at the level he did last year I think we will be fine in net. Wish they would have kept Johnson but Murray likes his big goalies, just hope the new equipment doesn't end up hurting them in the end. More agile guys may end up becoming the better choice and I just don't know if Lehner's ankle will hold up with his movement and size.

We're a little confused because of our abundance of LW's and clearly not enough spots (we're expecting another move), but let me give it a shot anyway:

Andrew Ladd - John Tavares - PA Parenteau
Anders Lee - Ryan Strome - Josh Bailey
Shane Prince - Brock Nelson - Nikolay Kulemin
Jason Chimera - Casey Cizikas - Cal Clutterbuck
Alan Quine

Nick Leddy - Travis Hamonic
Calvin deHaan - Johnny Boychuk
Thomas Hickey - Ryan Pulock
Scott Mayfield

Jaroslav Halak
Thomas Greiss
JF Berube

IR: Mikhail Grabovski
Call-ups: Michael Dal Colle, Bracken Kearns, Adam Pelech

We need either a natural RW or a natural C, and whichever one the new player gets, Ryan Strome will take the other spot. Also either Bailey or Kulemin has to go to accommodate.

Call-ups: Barzal, Pelech

Biggest needs: Team lacks a true 1D but has several 2Ds. Not a huge problem but most Cup winners have a bona fide Norris candidate. Team also likely needs another top6 FWD, but there's plenty of depth. I expect Halak to be traded before the season (or else Berube to be).
