IR not LTIRYou can't put players on LTIR if not injured, to give other players some games.
Jumbo got a bruised foot
Bogo got a migraine

If the Leafs had to put Dell on waivers is it a good chance he gets claimed by another team? So it would be like that time they lost Curtis Curtis McElhinney to the Hurricanes and Calvin Pickard to the Flyers. Plus if that happened what are the odds a team like the Capitals wanted to claim Dell since Henrik Lundqvist won't be playing this season.

yes like Barabanov plays game 1 then goes back to taxi squad then Robertson gets call 2 days later before being sent back to taxi squad so we accumulate 2 days of CAP space on 21st guyoh so you meant taxi squad sub ins.

then Jumbo goes on 10 day IR and we move 2 guys back and forth from taxi squad to grab more space
hopefully by TDL we have some more room to pick up a guy for playoff run who is a UFA
Even when things were normal during an 82 game schedule, isn't that something Kyle Dubas was already doing when he sent other players to the Marlies depending on their salary cap situation at that time? I remember hearing why that's a benefit to having their AHL team playing in Toronto.I think we will see Dell kept on the active roster. Waiver exempt players sent to taxi squad on off days. They'll play gymnastics with the cap to make it work.
(b) Clubs are not permitted to Loan Players where the result of such Loan(s) would reduce the Club’s Active Roster below eighteen (18) skaters and two (2) goaltenders. However, Clubs will not be required to Recall Players to maintain the minimum eighteen (18) skaters and two (2) goaltenders on days which they do not play an NHL Game, provided that the deficiency below those thresholds is a result of an injury that has caused the removal of such disabled Player from the Active Roster. No cap space savings on Jumbo, if I'm wrong someone can comment, replacing a 700k guy with a different 700k guy, doesn't save anything as well.
You still need a 20 man roster on non game days.

ok so you play vessey as a replacement and he sh*ts da bed so you send him down and wait 3 days before you call up Robertson to replace him for next game ... unless there is more in cba i can't see why you can't do it ... jumbo is out for 10 days on IR and you have 3 game days so why not bag those 7 days to increase spaceI understand that, but if Jumbo Joe did get a real injury, that would work on the first day of injury. You can't play a game, with the replacement player and send him down again. what if 4 injuries I can go down to a 16 man roster on non game days, I'm sure it doesn't work like that.

I don't think replacement player can go down, as I'm sure we would of seen 16 man rosters before now, due to injuries, so teams could save cap space. I would of been a terrible cap loophole.
Dell will be on the team. The others will be on the taxi squad.

I totally agree that would be our ideal lineup. It gets back our top producing line and our Toronto guys pumping at full gear. Matty and Willy can do their thing as usual. And hopefully Kerfoot and Vesey get their chemistry back from Harvard days with a tougher guy to create open ice for them. Jumbo can work with speed guys and should be able to mentor them. I would rotate Holl and Lehtonen but issue becomes losing Holl but even than not a huge deal and keep Spezz in for PP2. But either way it maximizes what we have today. Lets Lehtonen and Dermy learn from pros, and gives Rielly hopefully what he needs. After signing Joe Thornton...Spezza should be a healthy scratch. Too soft and slow to play on the bottom 6. Especially after Dubas and Co. said they need to change the style of play for the bottom 6.
My guess:
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Mikheyev - Mathews - Nylander
Vesey - Kerfoot - Simmonds
Robertson - Thornton - Anderson
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Dermott
Lehtonen - Bogosian
Holl
Bolded players are players who play with either Tenacity, Toughness, Grit, Pest
So many unanswered questions still ... both those guys are older too so may not take well to not being on our roster ... given CAP and we got 6 defenders who can't go back/up down without waivers it looks bleak for Lehtonen any other way unless we go 11 and 7 which is possibleIt will be interesting to see if guys with European Out Clauses like Lehtonen and Barabanov can even be placed on the taxi squad without triggering the out clause, considering taxi squad members still make minor salaries.
I think its more likely we go with 12F 7D 2G than 12F 6D 3G. Our 3rd goalie will most likely reside on the taxi squad. So many unanswered questions still ... both those guys are older too so may not take well to not being on our roster ... given CAP and we got 6 defenders who can't go back/up down without waivers it looks bleak for Lehtonen any other way unless we go 11 and 7 which is possible
It will create a goalie hoard which is why I think you will see some more clarification on this issue yet ... the teams and goalie's, especially vets, do not want to get thrown around da league for hoarding either ... but teams will be constantly striving to upgrade back and 3rd tenders if waivers are required every time ... a guy like Dell could switch between 5-10 teams over a season as he gets moved between roster and taxi squadsThis is set up well to grab a player you like on waivers but don't have an immediate need for. You could keep the player on the active roster as a healthy scratch then still shuttle in players from the taxi squad. If allowed, I might be tempted to create a small goalie hoard.
Yeah this looks right. So fresh news I’m not sure. Thats a good Taxi Squad. The heavy money is in there along with the savings ans accumulated cap space. Ha i think.Dell will be on the team. The others will be on the taxi squad.
