Management UPDATE: Steve Staios GM and POHO, Dave Poulin Senior VP of Hockey Operations

So you think they promote Dimaio to GM or ease him in as Assistant GM for now?

Right now we have
P of Hockey Ops - Staios
VP of Hockey Ops - Potvin
GM - N/A (Staios)
Assistant GM - Dimaio
Director of PP - N/A
Director of Prof. Scouting - N/A

Basically missing 3 guys here to look like a real front office.
Don’t you mean Poulin not Potvin

I was curious so I looked but didn't find any relation between Matt Turek and Roman Turek, the old Dallas goalie who liked to play the puck. The former was born in Ontario, Roman is of course Czech.

The recent decision on Ryan Bowness was a bit of a surprise.
Seemed like he is good at what he does and has a future in the NHL.
Could just be the matter of another Dorion-era person getting replaced.

This leads to believe that there is another move coming, in terms of someone to take over the B-Sens from Bowness, which in turn, could mean that David Bell's position as Head Coach in Belleville is in jeopardy as well, despite him doing a good job with what he had there the last couple of seasons.

There were rumours last year that they were gonna let Bell go even though he had just made the playoffs. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened this offseason after missing.

If you want a coach for Yakemchuk Jay McKee is as good as you’ll get. Warrior; difference maker, total team first guy, perfect AHL coach for Yak

I guess it's only fair Steve gets one of his personal guys on the team then

Sorta wish I had a better idea if this was a good move or not. Always seemed like a smart player anyway.

I'm not insinuating that Gagner isn't capable and it is only a nepotism hire. I am just pointing out that the connection is not as out of left field as it might seem. They played on the same team for a few years, so they have worked together before.

It's a common thread with most hockey front offices and coaching staffs that guys get brought in who have a connection to someone. You see things like Dubas taking Spezza to Pittsburgh, etc.

Both these hires have connections to Staios and/or Andlauer. Turek with the Bulldogs, and Gagner as a former teammate.

I know nothing about Gagner in this position, so I can't really comment on how good or bad he will be. But ex-players getting front office positions and being developed into executives is not at all uncommon so I wouldn't really worry.

This article has a lot of praise for Turek.

Sitting down for any amount of time with Turek, it’s quite clear he has a brilliant hockey mind. Smart, astute and calculating, every detail seems to be thought out with nothing left to chance.

Walking into Turek’s office, the preparation and work he put into his job was evident.

One of the first things you’d notice walking into Turek’s office at the civic centre wasn’t pretty pictures or great art on the walls but a very large whiteboard with colour coded details on every player on every team in the league and every team’s draft picks, all listed in dry erase marker.

It wasn’t that the list was there for show. Turek knew the names and details on the players as well as each team’s draft picks. Anytime you sat with Turek, whether it was in his office or anywhere else, you learned something.

Bruce is saying Turek was in the GM’s box for Ottawa throughout the playoffs. Surprised they managed to keep it under wraps if that’s the case.

Turek is in. I am not familiar with his work, but I hope he isn't a dinosaur.
It's not clear from the article if Gagner is director of player development with Belleville or Ottawa or both? I guess "director of player development" is usually meant for both?
