I'd keep both goalies unless there is a possibility to acquire a real good no. 1 in a trade.
Spence could get a 3-year bridge deal and sign a long-term one like Saros did as a 28 or 29 year old. If he is not ready for a starter goalie job, then just trade him before giving a long contract. Bob on the other hand probably could play a couple of years after the current contract and I don't think he'd want too much money because he already earned so much.

Of course the situation might change if they play badly in the playoffs but to make any change, it needs to be an upgrade.

Knight - put him on the block, see who calls. If you have to retain a bit and get a late 2nd for him? What's his value?
His mental workload is what scares me off from him, still extremely young as well.

Tough call but not sure Zito has time to wait to see if he can handle 50 or so games. I will be shocked if Knight is here long term or staying for another contract.

Bobrovsky - talk to him in July, see what his plan is then and if he plans on playing for another contract after this one.
I personally think he's done after this deal is up, he got his Cup, 2 Vezinas and made a lot of money.
Maybe he goes on LTIR the final year while Zito finds a replacement and Bob comes back post deadline for one final run?

If he plans on playing a few more years, you trade him with one year left with retention and pray for a decent return while he still has the Cup aura around him.

We've know for a while about fixing the defense but the goaltending actually seems like a bigger focus this July.

Well, this post is starting to look silly now.
He's been playing incredible the last 3 games, he should definitely get 2/4 games on this road trip and it may finally be time to see if he can play twice a week and Bob shifts to backup?

This decision continues to be more important every passing day.
Truly hope Knight can pull it all together and be that #1 for us long term, Zito and Maurice need to let him play a few weeks of a #1 workload.

My big question is when does he start playing more playoff games?

You DO realize that without that post Knight woulda joined the fivegoalski club per game right? I credit sticksandsun.

Little bit of recency bias here, but I agree the subject of trading Knight shouldn't have been brought up in the first place. I do agree the time is now to determine if he can start to at least be more a 1B this year instead of a 2 with the goal of being the 1A next year and Bob moving to more a 1B role.

I think we all knew that this season would show if Knight was our long-term future in net. There’s still time to go, but even with the ups and downs I think he’s proven that he can handle NHL level goaltending, it’s just he needs to improve on his consistency. I feel like the worst thing about him is we’re paying a lot of money for both him and Bob. That will change in a year and a half. If he’s our future, I wonder what an extension would look like
