If the Habs were interested in for instance Alexis Lafreniere, a former first overall pick, the Rangers would only be interested in a couple of the players mentioned as part of a package. An untouchable list depends on what the goal is, if it's 'big game hunting' the list will be very short.
I believe the Rangers would be interested in a few of the players on the list but they wouldn't trade Lafreniere unless it was for a player who could help them immediately.

I think the main reason he could become available is for cap reasons, a cost controlled return may be preferable. Just spit balling, because we don't know the Habs plans and who they could be targeting (i.e. like Dach last summer).

No such thing as untradeable. Anyone can be traded with the right offer.
Other than Guhle and Slafkovsky, I believe everyone else is fair game.
The only other one I could see would be Hutson, the season he just had is truly remarkable so you might bite yourself in a few years for trading him. Other than that maybe Mailloux, because of his potential as top 4 Rd which we do not possess in abundance.
Sure there’s other I wouldn’t trade like Xhekaj and Engstrom (for now) and some forwards, but truly intouchable i’m not sure of any other than the ones I named.

Typical overrating of our prospects, just Montreal stuff, it's hilarious. Jordan Harris or Barron wouldn't fetch you a hot coffee and a donut , but lets enshrine them
I love Guhle, but what if he's just broken now that our medical staff has had him for a year? Worries me
But your post is just as ridiculous. Harris and Barron (assuming he can remain healthy) would certainly be marketable. They wouldn't bring top level assets unless they were part of a package though.
Xhekaj is a keeper . Not the highest ceiling, but players like are needed to win . Don’t trade

I don’t believe in the concept of “untouchables”, it’s fraught with loopholes.
Rather, these are just players I like from the suggested list in the OP and would have a preference to hold on to but nothing beyond that.
Guhle, Mailloux, Hutson, Slaf, Xhekaj.
