University Cup 2025

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Concordia vs USask final.
This is Saskatchewans open door, no Alberta/UNB/UQTR.
The Huskies have had a lot of heart break, most recently losing the National final in Fredericton 2017 and blowing the final to Alberta back in 2005.

TMU Over Ottawa - If TMU can get past first 10 min of game as Ottawa emotion should be high. TMU will win. However, will we see another repeat of when Ryerson beat UNB then got hammered by UQTR

Concordia over U of S. - I’m so in between could go either way. PP opportunities and Roddy key to U of S

I agree, a Sask vs Concordia will be a tough one to call.

Ottawa over TMU
Concordia over Sask

Ottawa is more skilled and faster than TMU. TMU's only chance is to out grit the Gee Gees, but that will be tough after playing 2 games on Thursday.

Concordia really impressed me. It's a toss up between these teams but I expect Concordia to have more in the tank with their longer turnaround between games.

If this happens, flip a coin between Concordia and Ottawa, although I would give Ottawa the edge with the extra rest.

So we are guaranteed the first National Final since 2012 (McGill/Western) to not feature either UNB or Alberta...and only the second one since 2003.

Unless Ottawa wins, it will be the first time since UQTR in 2001 that a team has won the title without having to go through either UNB or Alberta.
This is crazy when you think about it. I’m a huge UNB fan, no doubt about it. I try not to be a homer but sometimes it’s difficult. I was unable to watch UNB-Ottawa and like most, I was shocked with the result. Not that I think OUA teams aren’t as good as the AUS or CW, but because as a UNB fan I feel they are generally unbeatable. Almost every year for the past number of years we see them roll through the AUS, win the conference championship and more often than not go on to win Nationals. I believe we as UNB fans just expect them to win and when they don’t we’re shocked. I can’t imagine the pressure the players, coaching staff, etc. are under knowing anything less than winning a National Championship is considered a failure. I won’t lie, this loss hurts. It’s going to be a long summer. Anyways, proud to be a UNB fan and proud of this team as well as coach Hennigar. Good luck to the remaining teams.

TMU forward intentionally snows the Ottawa goalie, sends Ottawa to the PP, 1-0 Ottawa after 1.

Brain dead, selfish penalty there. If you are TMU you are hoping to catch Ottawa sleeping. That's a penalty worthy of a benching in U13, much less college.

I think the fans are more hurt than the players. I've been in DAL and SMU dressing rooms after a loss and there are tears and hugs.

The senior guys give speeches about how they wanted to win for the young guys and some young guys talk about how they wanted a win for the seniors.

But, a couple of cases of beer shows up and a jug of Jägermeister and after a bit guys are talking about their Junior days and having a few laughs.

It’s my understanding Windsor had quite the time in Charlottetown lol

Despite the two teams I was cheering for both being one and done I’m really regretting not going.. I think a lot of us out East that normally go didn’t with the next 3 years being shorter trips (and Ottawa isn’t necessarily the cheapest place to spend 4 days) but this is the most parity I ever remember in a UCup.

A little story I got from Dave Adolph - In 2007, Moncton UofS were eliminated Thursday and Friday, but weren't flying out until Monday. Dave didn't want the guys hanging around in Moncton so he loaded the bus and went to PEI for 3 days. He said the guys had a blast and no one knew who they were.

The following year, McGill played UdeM on Sat down -4 in goal differential. I guess they could have rolled over and let UdeM win, but they played hard and won 3-0, giving UofA the top spot at +3. Rumor has it that the UofA GM met the McGill bus as they were going home and dropped off several cases of beer.

That sounds much more pleasant than GMac bringing his team to watch the Semis in Wolfville lol.

That is outstanding.
