A comment by nemeth in the interview was that gallant isn't really stressing the system just yet. He wants to get a feel for everyone first and play loose but hard.
So im not not really concerned with lack of structure right now.

I can understand why the Rangers like McKegg and coaches keep him in the lineup when possible. He is an excellent role model skating 100%, like it’s his last career shift every shift. Unfortunately he doesn’t really have much skill. But I like him a lot.
 
Just grab the guy’s stick when he’s gonna take the puck from you. Ref says: “old tyme hockey, yay!”
