I watched the Canada meltdown, the only goal where UPL really got beat was Raddysh over the glove. The rest were tips, flukes, one unbelievably offside goal where his team quit skating, and the OT which is point blank 3-on-3

HPK loaned Luukkonen to Leki. So Luukkonen will play whole next season in Mestis, which is Finland second best hockey league. I think that is good news. Because in HPK Ukko-Pekka would have been a third best goalie, but in Leki he will be starter.

HPK has loaned goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to LeKi of second division Mestis for the purpose of continuing his development against a high level of competition as opposed to him dominating another season in the U20 ranks. Luukkonen and three other HPK players will play with LeKi for the entire 2017-2018 season with the possibility to be recalled at various points based on HPK team needs.

I previously kicked this idea around in the European preview - http://www.sabresprospects.com/2017/08/2017-18-sabres-prospects-european.html#more - but did not think HPK would pull the trigger on a loan despite having two veteran incumbents ahead of Luukkonen on their top club depth chart. Luukkonen made his LeKi debut Friday, stopping all 11 shots sent his way to earn the shutout in a 9-0 trouncing of KJT M as part of the Finland Cup. LeKi begins Mestis regular season play September 29 versus Pelitat.

Hey now...You're thinking WASPs with Confederate flags. Germans (or in my case Prussians) don't have any particular connection to the KKK. We carry enough projected guilt without someone piling on.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen earned the start for LeKi in the Mestis season opener, stopping 27 of 29 shots to backstop a 4-2 victory over Peliitat. The calm, poised 18-year-old netminder is expected to play a lot of minutes at a good level of play this season. He's off to a nice start.
