Post-Game Talk: Ugly way to go into a break

Sure. Let’s go moderately better. They aren’t a powerhouse or they wouldn’t be a WC. Point still stands.
Nah, Wildcard 1, 2, 3 seed really mean nothing in this format. The talent level between the two divisions in Western is just very lopsided in favor of the Central. There is 6 teams who realistically have a shot at the cup and 4 of them are in the Central, 2 in the Pacific. The 3 "wildcard" teams who shouldn't make it far are in the Pacific.

Whos the 4th central team?

You play to win, that’s the only reason you play.
While this is certainly true I would argue there is something to be said about not going all out all the time when your almost guaranteed a playoff spot at this point. I think winning in the playoffs is much more important, if you can strategically offer yourself the best chance by managing work load and injuries and by doing that if a by-product is losing a few extra games that gains you an easier path then I think its something you have to consider.

Central is definitely better but you are exaggerating it so much. If we can’t beat that avs team that is half of what it used to be then we aren’t good enough to win the cup. I don’t know what to tell you if you think the gap between the avs and LA, Canucks is so big it’s worth giving up home ice advantage throughout the playoffs. Zero logic.

I would argue your not seeing the true gap between the teams and that home ice advantage in the NHL doesnt mean half of what your making out to to be. You get one extra home game if it goes to game 7. Go back and look at home and away splits throughout history in the playoffs. Miniscule difference man. Zero logic

We have home ice last year I’m convinced we win the cup. It’s literally what teams battle for all season.

I don’t mind Gregor but his Skinner takes from last game are brutal. Let’s in 3 goals in a period “but he made a couple of saves.”
lol- he was tying himself in knots “oilers are 24th in rushing chances- which are the most dangerous…oilers don’t give up many high danger chances….records don’t mean anything except for Pickard who is 12-2 (or whatever he is”

So many bad takes

People shitting on McDavid when we have Bouchard and Skinner on our team. If it wasn’t for Skinner and Bouch, ya’ll wouldn’t be fellating MacKinnon the way you are.

I’m curious if you ever played organized team sports? Teammates play for each other, this isn’t tennis. It’s full contact, going out at half speed you’re even more likely to get injured.
Ask any player in virtually any sport if they would prefer to play at home or on the road. You’re not going to like their answer.

But do we win game 6 in Florida in that scenario?

Found in the wild:

"Skinner was the third best goalie tonight"
At least he didn’t get outplayed by an ebug like Torontos goalie a few years ago.

He’s f***ing awful. Imagine having a mindset of prioritizing an asset like Trent Frederic over an actual starting goalie. This team NEEDS a better goalie and deserves one after the way they’ve been playing this year. Get Skinner the f*** into a backup position where he belongs
I wonder how much Dallas wants for Oettinger.

I'll bet Dallas is comparing their C depth and saying how stupid it is they'd prioritize anything other than getting a McDavid or Draisaitl caliber forward...

I just want a competent goalie brother. It’s tiresome watching the team chase the game on a daily basis because our goalies can’t be relied upon. Adding players like Frederic would be great, but it shouldn’t be a priority over other stuff

At the laugh react guy, I’ll reiterate. Not a good team. I’m sure you’re one of the posters panicking when your washed up team was looking like they might not make the playoffs

Avs suck, Skinner sucks more

Pierre Lebrun-

"I do believe John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks would waive his no-trade clause to go to Edmonton. So there’s that. But it sure doesn’t sound like Bowman sees goaltending as an area of concern."

Bowman-
"Our goalies have been great So, I'm not sure where that comes from. We certainly believe in both of them, and we think they've been a big part of why our team has been so consistent over the last several months here," Bowman said.
Oh yeah, he's been consistent alright.

In game 7 historically the home team wins 60% of the time and the away team 40%. In the finals it is a 13-5 split for the home team. I am not so sure that is miniscule.

He makes a good point that it would be a drastically easier first round if we get second in the pacific.

That said you make a good point about wanting home ice throughout the playoffs. (Oilers are also a good home team)

We already know the answer though. The boys have expressed multiple times how the want to win the division and get as much home ice as possible. If the Jets lose out we could have home ice the whole way through.

Trying to pick your opposition is never a great strategy. Just win and let the cards fall where they may.

Okay, the concensus amoungst a large group is that we must fear the Stars, Wild and Avs, so for god's sake, DO NOT finish in first! Hopefully they suck for the rest of the year and finish mediocre to wind up in 2nd and draw the Kings or Canucks.:sarcasm:;)
