I’ve always preferred Draisaitl over McDavid, but that’s just me though.

Before I get shit on for running McDavid out of town, I’m not saying I don’t like McDavid. I just like Draisaitl more.
Draisaitl is honestly a better clutch performer. When the game inevitably tightens up and space + time is at a premium, McDavid loses a significant weapon in working off the rush.

Effort level always has to be there

This game has a few faults

But the media. You know a goalie is so sensitive. Like that good save Stu made against STL. First shot

They go on and on and on telling us about it like it was some alien we have never seen. They go out of there way to talk it up, like the radio

If this was VAN/MTL/TO, he would be ripped to shreds and management

here they bootlick

People have the memories of goldfish I swear.

You would think being the 3rd best player in NHL history for a decade, and having set every modern playoff metric just last year alone would buy you a bit of respect. I guess not...
When you have no cups, and still getting shown up by the same team that swept you 3 seasons ago, you would expect him to show up on a friday night game when the big guys on the other side did. You cant get dunked on as bad as he was tonight.

I feel like the trip to game 7 of the finals took a lot out of our top players. Mcdavid, Hyman, and Ekholm have looked tired this season. Draisaitl was injured the last 2 rounds so that’s an extra month of him not going 100% , allowing more recovery for him. But those 3 were heavily leaned on last playoffs and look just gassed this year compared to last. Which is another reason we should’ve kept our younger guys and not made this an old ass team.

Leon is playing to show people he deserves that contract. McDavid has nothing to play for until the playoffs start. He’s won basically every individual trophy. Been there, done that. Team is sitting 1st in the division.
That type of attitude will get us knocked out in round 1, and is absolutely pathetic by the guy with the C on his jersey.

McDavid needs to skip the four nations under the injury excuse. Something is clearly nagging him for a while now. Last thing we want is a 50% McDavid for the rest of the season because he didn’t rest during four nations.

The league game plans for McDavid and he gets top line and top d-pair opposition every night. He had a bad game tonight but I'll credit Makar who had an incredible game producing and defending the league's best player. Add MacKinnon who balled all night. McDavid's line was pushed back all night and poor games from Hyman and Arvidsson didn't help carry water. Shit happens, peeps premature burying the super elite is brutal.

Goaltending was sub-par and this team was mistake prone as well in front of a human five hole. Bouchard mucho complacent puck play tonight headlined by an absolute killer soft drop pass in his own end on a power play. Oil PP1 looks tired and stale. Draisaitl and the ancient warrior Perry were really the only Oilers who showed well tonight.

Fast, hard forecheck play can still discombobulate this team.

Okay, sure, I can understand Connor being banged up. But then, my brother in Christ, sit out dumb bullshit like the 4 Nations and rest up for your pursuit of the STANLEY CUP.

No one is going to care in ten years who won Gary’s cash cow. Every hockey fan will remember you leading Edmonton and Canada to a championship though. f***ing priorities, dude.

And this is NOT Skinners fault either. This is a management fault in the end. I feel bad ripping the guy, but god he sucks. This is not his fault. Idiots up above.

100%. Very disappointing that he’s still playing in the tourney despite something obviously being wrong with him. He owes the league nothing.

Top players don't have increasing point totals every single year, like what how do you think this works? You fluctuate a bit up and down.

The regular season is kind of boring, we're going to finish around the same 104-110-ish point range we always do. Any higher than that is likely restricted by Skinner/Pickard being a lower tier tandem.

So there's no intrigue there.

Individually? McDavid has won every meaningful trophy the league can offer, shit he's even won the Conn Smythe trophy now. There's nothing there that interests him.

Yes he is probably focused on saving something for the playoffs and he's earned the right to do that.
