GDT: UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Brady

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Brady subs Buckley too imo

Brady still isn’t a good striker or anything but he’s improved enough to the point where he’s functional against elite fighters. He does a good job of using it to get to his wrestling. Really smart fighter.

That one arm guillotine is my fav choke to hit in gi, I’ve been in it before and I’d rather be in hell. Neck gets all sorts of crunched.

Knew Holland’s grappling would hold up at 170. The difference between 170 and 185 is huge. A little salty my KO prop sprinkle didnt cash at the end of round 1 lol

Ulberg-Jan was meh, no title shot coming off that for Ulberg. He’s winning fights at the top of the division but he’s not doing it impressively.

Good on Molly to hang it up

Chris Duncan is turning into a certified parlay killer for ppl

Thought Wood looked great. Tybura is the perfect gatekeeper.

Pulayev, Tomar, and Bannon all should not be in the UFC

Thainara, Bannon, Brady, and Holland got POTN bonuses. Bannon getting it over Chris Duncan is gross.

I like the fight but don't think it would make sense for Brady. He is probably #1 already, he just beat Leon who is the current #1 welterweight. Buckley is 5 spots behind at #6. The guys in between are Usman, #3 with 3 consecutive losses, JDM #4 getting a title shot in a couple months, and Shavkat #2 who is injured. Until Shavkat recovers Brady is the #1 contender and the only top 5 option who would be a reasonable title challenger. It would almost be silly for him to accept a Buckley fight since it's all risk with no gain but it would be a good fight for the UFC to make. Headline a fight night, build their brands before a title fight. Just don't think it's worth the risk for Brady.

For some reason I thought Brady's loss to Belal was more recent. He does now have 3 straight wins since that loss, so waiting for a title shot makes sense.

The thing that impressed me most was his willingness to throw first against a more talented striker. Leon does a lot of setup for his strikes and Brady would just interrupt it with a little blitz/flurry and never let Leon get off.

Both Brady and Buckley are stockier and strong and though I think Buckley is stronger, that could help with the takedown defense but if it gets to grappling I think it's over.

That for sure, the other thing that impressed me was how many ways he has to get takedowns. Guys really good. Is a legit problem for somebody like Shavkat. Probably gives Belal a better fight than the first one too

Leon looked so bad it's hard to get a read on what it means for Brady. Onwards and upwards, of course, but how will he handle the rest of the top 5? I don't know that we got any insight into that.

Not a resounding win for Ulberg.

Nelson is someone Holland 'should' beat, but he's still no push over. Really wish Holland would give up on this going between WW and MW and just stick at WW. He's not strong enough for MW and can get bullied physically. There are a lot of wrestlers at WW, but his length could be a problem, he's got good BJJ, and he won't get ragdolled in the same way as he would at MW.
