I wanted Pereira to win but that looks right me. I knew it was for Ankalaev when the first score card was 49-46.

Well at least this will hopefully shut Chael Sonnen up calling Pereira the greatest fighter of all time!.
The only wrong score is 49-46.

It was clearly a 48-47 either way.

Yeah 49-46 didn't seem right to me. But 48-47 for Ankalaev was the scorecard I had.
If Jones really doesnt want to fight Aspinall and wants easy fights, he should just cut 20 pounds and come back to LHW, these are all easy fights for him. Ankalaev is taken down and choked out within 2 rounds, Pereira in 1 round.

This result was entirely predictable and the exact reason the UFC delayed giving Ankalaev the shot. Given how lackluster this was, how boring everything about Ankalaev is and the huge star that Pereira is I think it's a safe bet that Ankalaev is going to have to beat Pereira again pretty soon.

49-46 is a questionable scorecard. A case could be made for 1,3,5 Pereira, but the overall body of work definitely favored Ankalaev. Wouldn't have complained either way, for me it came down to r3.

Really don't see what Ankalaev did to win round 5. He had the biggest moments and deserved to win as a whole though, the 10-point system just doesn't work for MMA.

Yep! It was pretty obvious they did not want Pereira fighting Ankalaev because they saw something like this happen. Thankfully we got some amazing fights from Pereira in the last year or so. And those opposing fighters didn't have the all round UFC skills that Ankalaev has (wrestling threat).

It pretty much went the same way Jan vs Ankalaev went. Striking for the first 3 rounds and then Ankalaev tries to kill the clock for the last 2.

At the end of the day, Alex didn't do nearly enough in that fight to warrant him winning. He called it a war but I didn't see him battling until he was threatened with a takedown.

Man Dana was so upset with that fight as well that it took over 3 and half years for Ankalaev to get his next title fight! Dana will be upset about how this fight went as well.

tbf Ankalaev didn't really do much either outside of the second round. Guy went 0/11 on TDs against a fighter who is supposed to be a weak grappler. It wasn't a very impressive performance from either of them.

Not a great performance by either fighter, Alex looked tentative and never seemed to get started, Ankalaev just never seemed to want to try taking over the fight - like he was happy if he did just enough to win
Alex seemed too worried of the takedowns to get started. Ankalaev did what he does, bores everyone to sleep and wins a fight by doing just enough.

That last part, that’s the problem I had with the result. The score cards are what matter but it’s tough for me to see that approach rewarded.

Happens semi regularly in the UFC though like someone mentioned earlier.

Pantoja, Merab, (Vacant), Makhachev, Belal, Dricus, Magomed, Jones (kind of) who never fights anymore.

Not the most star studded/exciting set of champs the UFC has ever seen.

Pantoja, Makhachev and Dricus at least put on dominating performances and exciting fights, the rest are bad (Jones not based off his performance but due to his out of ring issues and him just being an ass)

Jones is too old, come on now, I doubt he can cut to 205 and then successfully dominate Ank
