I'm fine with letting RoR go unless he's willing to stay for cheap.

He wasn't good in the playoffs. Game 3 almost cost us the game in regulation. I think people are getting too consumed with his reputation.

Agreed.

His foot speed was lacking although he was probably injured.

Big pass on him.

I flat out do not trust a 33 year old who's just had his peak season right before hitting UFA. That contract would more than likely bite us and we'd get diminishing returns. If I was going to target anyone from that list it'd be Bertuzzi.
At worst 20 goals 50 pts lots of playoff experience at 4.5 mil
He can play in our top 6

Bertuzzi 4.5 mil top 6 players
10 points inbthe playoffs

What are reasonable cap hit expectations for ROR, Acciari, and Samsonov? ROR I’d try to get down to the $4-4.5 million range, Acciari $1.5-2 million, and Sammy $3-3.5 million. Schenn and Kampf I think it’s reasonable to believe they could come back at the same or similar cap hits they’ve got now, Luke especially.

They can all gtfo except ROR and Schenn. But I honestly don't know why either of those two would want to stay.

ROR was worse than every single player people want to ship out... but ya, keep him.

I must've missed the part where ROR was making $11m and about to get a raise

Do you think he is signing for a reasonable rate? I don't take him back unless it's under 5 for less than 4 years.

Hes not getting a a deal for 4-5 years at 5M plus

Dude is now a playoff asset b/c hes declined and people know he cant be relied on for reg season 1C/2C matchups

Hell get 2-3 years 4M

Only going to focus on the roster players:

Here's the list of the Leafs UFA's this season:

Kerfoot - GTFO (don't care if he is willing to come back at min cap hit).
RoR - Re-sign to no longer than 2 year deal at max of $4 per year.
Kampf - Walk. 4th line should be used to get younger players feet wet (Holmberg?).
Acciari - Re-sign to no longer than 2 year deal at max of $2M per year.
Bunting - Re-sign only if max is $3M, a penny more and he can walk.
Simmonds - GTFO (taking up a roster and contract spot).
Aston-Reese - Re-sign if min cap hit, can play 13th forward or placed on waivers if it isn't working.
Holl - GTFO (don't care if he is willing to come back at min cap hit).
Schenn - Re-sign to no longer than 2 year deal at max of $2M per year.
Gustafsson - Let him walk as he is a depth Dman. Have other players (ie: Timmons) to see how they handle minutes.

RFA's:
Samsonov - Re-sign if he is willing to forgo arbitration at a max of 2 year deal worth no more than $3.5M (he will most likely go arbitration route which he will most likely be awarded more money than we should sign him to).
I agree with most of this, but would suggest that resigning Kampf could be a good move, and while Simmonds will obviously not be resigned, stating he should GTFO is really disrespectful to a guy who was a loyal soldier who took on all challengers regardless of weight differential in defence of his teammates.

Nah, Simmonds can gtfo. He wasn't even an NHLer when he first signed with the Leafs, let alone now a few years later.

Good guy sure, but he's a dime a dozen AHL bottom 6er

So that is his fault? I am not saying there should be any consideration given to resigning him, but to suggest GTFO to a guy with 1,000 NHL games is wrong. Any mitigating factors in your eyes, I wonder.

Could see us run something like this next year. Likely wont be as many changes as some would like.

Bertuzzi (4.5 x 3) - Matthews - Nylander
Tavares - (Marner trade return) - Jarnkrok
Knies - O'Reilly - Acciari
Steeves - Holmberg - Mcmann
Robertson

Rielly - Brodie
Mccabe - UFA
Schenn - Lilijgren
Gio

Samsonov
Woll

We need tough, fast, hard hitting tenacious guys who will drop the gloves and play hard all the time. They don't need to be the most skilled either, just badasses to put some hair on the balls of our powderpuff squad.

Schenn and Accari are absolutely must retain. Dump the softies - no more Kerfoot, Kampf, trade Jarnkrok if you can. And bring in some animals - Hathaway, Mcbain, Kolesar (I know you'd have to trade for the latter two) or the like.

Main thing is it can't be just 2 guys. We need multiple guys of this type to set the example and keep the energy going.

Matt Cooke played over 1,000 games and I would have never had him anywhere near a team I was assembling, I reject your premise. Simmonds had a very good career but none of that was while he was a member of the Leafs, Dubas treated him like the organization owed him something.

Is your last quip trying to make the discussion about skin colour?

No.

He was one of the best in the first round. I imagine by the second round seeing our stars do nothing basically caused him to mail it in. I know I would have, that was an absolute joke in the effort department. I would be so frustrated and from what I can tell everyone I know watching, had enough of the Leafs lack of effort.

ROR for (reasonable)decent money is fine. Especially if you move someone like Marner out. 2 year max though, to match JT

He wasn't mailing it in, he had injured fingers (wearing a splint) and a foot injury (was reported that he limped in the locker room).

The drop in his faceoff percentage was a dead giveaway that something was off with his hands.

Would sign ROR, Schenn, Acciari and Sammy before the draft. Just give them another year on whatever they are asking. Get it done. Then they can go and look at UFAs and trade targets.

Didn't know that, said in the other thread I would bring him back. I liked his game rd1.

I think since Game 4 where his faceoff was like 1 or 2 for 18 or something is where he reinjured.

He needs to be resign asap, give him more years.

I don't know about ROR, he's aging and on the backside of his career.

Schenn, similar story but at least he's got a huge heart.

Kerfoot, Holl, go away.

The rest are just filler
