Well they just lost 3-0 to Kazakhstan it seems they are... I don't remember exactly, it's been so long , when was the last time you guys qualified for a major tournament?

Why do you think I'm calling the SFA incompetent? They've done nothing to develop or improve the game here in decades. While every other country has made efforts towards progress we've regressed.

England isn’t going anywhere with a Henderson/Dier/Barkley MF.

Rice would prob be in, but they found his rebel side this week, so he’s Benched.

England hammer Czech Republic, in the other game in the group very controversial penalty given to Bulgaria, contact clearly outside the box

Ukraine get a valuable point in Lisbon, they parked the bus but got the job done. In a group where POR-UKR-SRB probably won't drop points to the group outsiders which are Lithuania & Luxembourg this point is potentially big. Also puts some pressure on Portugal to beat Serbia in 3 days at home, though in a 24-team Euro they will probably qualify even if they lost back to back home games :skeptic:

England have a ridiculously good looking future. If they get a legitimate coach (jury still out on Southgate atm IMO) that knows how to use that kind of talent they will step into the upper echelons of National Teams.

Just looking at guys like Sterling, Sancho, Odoi, Stones, Rice, TAA, Gomez, Maddison, Foden, Chilwell, Shaw, Winks, Cooke, etc. etc. and that doesn't touch on a lot of the other younger guys who haven't even started to break out yet.

In a fantasy land in a few years this team could be crazy:

Sancho - Sterling - Odoi
Foden - Maddison
Rice
Shaw - Stones - Gomez - Trent

Only problem is their keeper is trash.

Pickford has the tools to be good and keep his place but recent form has too many shades of Hart. Butland and Pope are still pretty young but not top talents. Gunn and Dean Henderson look promising.

Coaching could be what holds this group back. Southgate has done a great job to a point, there's been a complete 180 on the relationship with the fans. The switch to 4-3-3 has been good, maybe a little late. Howe is obviously talked about a lot but that's it for young English coaches. There's a few in the Championship (Lee Johnson, Chris Wilder, Graham Potter, Lampard) but they are quite far off. Boothroyd in the u21s is lucky to have that job. So we may have to look outside for coaching in future.

5-0 was a little harsh on the Czechs. A penalty that some refs wouldn't give, a deflection that fell to Sterling (still a nice finish), a deflection that wrong footed the keeper and an own goal where Kalas couldn't do much about it. Still a good performance, Kane dropping deep and having Sterling and Sancho running beyond was good to see.

It's naive to think these guys despise each other and think they should be expected to cater to every slight, grudge, and grievance the fans do.

The previous England team did that. The Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd players sat at different tables. They never performed as good as this one.

Norway managed to equalize against Spain but they gifted Spain a goal shortly after when a poor backpass forced Jarstein to take down Morata. Ramos with a panenka as well

Italy finally put together a great and complete game. It's something I haven't seen in a very long time. I am also happy Mancini started Kean, he repaid him back by playing a fantastic game and scoring a goal. Kean is now the second youngest at the age of 19. He was playing on the left side of Immobile. I hope Mancini no longer picks him because he's useless unless he plays for Lazio

I couldn't see anything special in how Italy played, the weak opponent just was completely harmless. They will qualify easily from this group, but a change in fortunes takes more to prove.

You'll take anything you can get when you have been disappointed year after year, game after the game since 06. It was a good game from them, minus Immobile. It wasn't a typical Italian defend the lead game. I'm happy and it's a good step forward because Italy played worst games under Ventura against weaker teams than Finland.

I guess Bosnia will be the first and only real test in these qualifiers, Kean is genuinely promising but has played only 182 minutes of first team football this season and the problems that led to them scoring only twice in their four Nations League fixtures against Poland and Portugal largely remain. Defensively they'll also need to find alternatives to the aging Chiellini and Bonucci as solid as they've been.

Norway a bit unlucky not to get a draw. Spain were wasteful with there chances but Norway missed a 100 percent chance in the first half. Still can’t figure out how the striker missed the chance.

Sweden seems to be in a good state. There's rumors that Victor Lindelöf declined because his great friend Guidetti didn't make the squad and now there is rumors that Forsberg is pouting because he was subbed in the 60th minute and has therefore decided to go back to Germany. And honestly swedish sports media usually aren't that much into making up drama so might actually be something in it..

Not impressed with his movement.
