Florida's first for Silovs, sign the paperwork!

What team has a sub-24 goalie, already playing in the NHL, that has stats that wouldn't be atrocious, that then wants to move him though?

Interesting to think about a Florida/Montreal swap of goalies. Price has $10.5 million AAV for three years after this. Bobrovsky has $10 million AAV for three years after this. (I know that Bobrovsky does not fit the age bracket OP requested, but he is still a serviceable goalie.)

Price will likely be on LTIR for the rest of his career, but dumping his contract would allow the Habs to avoid being in LTIR for the next three years. (I know that there will be lots of posters advising that there are no negative attributes of a team being in LTIR; these posters will be wrong.) Bobrovsky is clearly overpaid, but at least he can play.

Columbus and Toronto made a similar trade where Columbus acquired David Clarkson for Nathan Horton. Clarkson was overpaid, but could still play. Horton would never play again, but Toronto planned to stay in LTIR and was not worried about the negative impact.

Bob's NMC complicates this one a bit.

I hope for Minny’s sake he isn’t.

There’s holes on the back end that need to be addressed. Low likelihood they get fixed by the time MAFs deal is up. Thus, keeping Gustavsson.
Minnesota does not have holes at goaltender, if that’s what you mean. Fleury is the starter much to the annoyance of Wild fans. Gus is the better NHL goaltender. Wallstedt is going to be knocking at the NHL door pretty soon. Fleury having one more year left let’s Wallstedt get the majority of starts in the AHL. Perfect for his development.

You’re 100% right that Gus is going to be kept. He’s a young quality NHL goaltender. Can’t believe we essentially stole him from Ottawa for Cam Talbot.

What would Minny ask for Wallstedt?

goalies that are under 24 are all lottery tickets anyways, so you're probably better off keeping any that you have in your system and see if they pan out.

I would think there is a possibility that Wolf could be available. But I don't think it would be for any of the assets listed. The Florida pick, 2nd in 23 and 3rd in 24 would get a conversation going.

I know Fleury is under contract for next year and Gus is RFA.........but isn't there a real case to be made for Wallstedt making the leap next year? Hasn't he just been getting better for Iowa as the year has gone on?

He’s the least available of Minnesota’s goaltenders. Was just ranked #1 in Minnesota’s prospect rankings by Scott Wheeler. A franchise goaltender in the making. Just not available.

He’s been outstanding since the new year. He’s 8-0-1 in his last 9 games. My favorite prospect to watch.

I can’t see the team moving on from Gus just yet (RFA). Fleury has a NMC so he’s not going anywhere. Wallstedt will have to marinate for one more year in the AHL. If a term injury happens to one of the goaltenders, he is the first callup.

The future tandem is Wallstedt-Gus

Let's say that MTL end up having the 3oa this year?

I really can’t see Wolf being available. It’s more likely to be Vladar.

What happened to Primeau? Wasn't he the heir apparent?
199th draftee in 2017. Not sure you could expect more than AHL level. Got a look at NHL 19 games in 4 different seasons, got pulled in 5 of his 9 starts last year.
Got 1 period this season and not outplaying Kevin Poulin in Laval.

Must not be in top 10 prospects on Habs at this point.

Let's say that MTL end up having the 3oa this year?
Hughes would keep it.

Given Price’s age shouldn’t the Habs have been drafting goalies over the past 3-5 seasons? I mean price would turn 36 this year. He’s signed til he’s 39. So these 21-23 year olds would be playing in the A or somewhere outside of junior.

Goalie is a position where you have to plan to replace your guy by the time he’s 30. As it take 5 years to groom a goalie. Can take flyers on guys when you have a prime Vasi in the late rounds but when your guy approaches 30 and you don’t see a legit hire, it’s time to use a 2nd rounder to grab one of the 2/3 best goalies in the draft.

Demko straight up for the pick, I know he’s 27 but you’re getting more of a proven asset on a great contract. Any Goalie 24 and under has question marks or is already in the NHL and probably not going to be traded.

It doesn’t matter how “good” a goaltender looks at a young age. If you don’t have a competent team in front of him, you’re just throwing him to the wolves.

Look at the aforementioned Gustavsson in Ottawa vs Minnesota.

It depends. Vladar could be available. I wonder how DS feels about having a rookie in a tandem with how Markstrom has struggled.

I think Vladar gets you in the range of a 2nd and 4th round pick. Wolf would get you a bigger return just because of the potential.

I doubt it would ever happen but the Bruins might not be able to afford both Ullmark ($5M for two more years) and Swayman (RFA) next year. They also have some interesting prospects in the pipeline who could be challenging for NHL backup duties. It's unlikely the Bruins would give their rivals a #1 goalie but on paper there could be a fit. It's unlikely the Bruins would want picks in return though. They most likely would want a proven, cost-controlled center who can help with a Cup push this year and then take over for Bergeron or Krejci next year. Suzuki would be perfect but I am guessing he is untouchable. Dach could be of interest but he is still an unproven commodity at this point. As I said, it'll never happen but fun to think about.

Habs should look at the Flyers’ Sam Ersson for goalie help.

You get to deal with Fletcher: thats a good start.

Ersson is perfect so far in the NHL: 5-0
Wins were mostly (4) on the road.
Played 1 yr in lower Swedish league, then 2 yrs in SHL
23 yrs old, good size at 6’2

Philly still has Hart who is 24 plus nice prospects Kolosov (3rd round 21 and 2 seasons KHL .906 and .914) and Fedotov (6’6, best of KHL, signed but forced into 1 yr military service so who knows).

they might want to upgrade at forward especially.
