Sabres' Myers to have hearing Monday

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday afternoon for a hit on New Jersey Devils center Dainius Zubrus on Saturday night at First Niagara Center.

Myers received a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head of Zubrus at 7:02 of the third period. Zubrus remained in the game.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

Buffalo won the game, 2-1.

Not his first high hit on Zubrus -- wasn't there one three years ago at home where he cleaned him out along the left-hand wall?

No surprise. He wont get away with a fine like Lupul did on a much worse offense. 3 games because hes a Sabre, and he has a history.

Myers's history is irrelevant. He doesn't have repeat offender status. His last offense was over 18 months ago.

No hit league

Myers clearly hit him in the head. Probably most a function of height more than anything else. No issue if they talk to him about it.....if they talked to Lupul for the INTENTIONAL CROSS CHECK TO THE EAR.

He was skating like a complete idiot, I've seen 13 year old skate better. He's going up against a 6"8 defensman with his head down against the boards... Obviously he's gonna get destroyed, the elbow was a height thing but the jump imo is what might get him suspended

Myers leaving his feet on the check is what will get him suspended.
