Strange tact taken with Kleven, for two guys who barely say anything. Is he due for a contract and trying to get a better price or just trying to piss him off

It was strange eh. Felt like Green kinda needlessly escalated that question.

Kleven did kind of suck at camp/during pre-season, I think Sebrango even outplayed him if I’m remembering correctly.

So I kinda get it. He’s riding the high of being the guy who broke out in the playoffs and they likely want to make sure he doesn’t get complacent. Just might be one of those people that needs a little push like that sometimes.

Likely just saying he has to have a better summer to come in ready to go

He was displaying pose leading up to the fight with Lowry, then when he got back from that injury it took him a few games.

What does he get for a contract?

Ahh yes, mystery explained as the coach and GM were very meh about Kleven's season. Someone is an RFA and needs a new deal hmmmm....

They are sending a message because if he realizes his potential the sens will have an elite D core. But they need him to and that needs to be the backbone of this team. They need a situation like Nashville when they got Suter and Weber in the same draft. Sens need that from Sanderson and Kleven.

His potential is through the roof. He puts on another 15 pounds he will be a killer, the more reps he gets the better his timing will be. The more he plays the better his hockey sense, his puck skills are better than I ever dreamed when they drafted him.

I am seeing it this way too. He needs to stay hungry a big term contract could do a lot of damage to him this early.

There is no trickery, they want him to bust ass this summer and come to camp looking to be a much better player from the get go.

I think they see that he could be a beast if he learns to put in the work.

So happy Kleven arrived. I loved the pick at the time for his potential, and he’s hitting it and moving the bar which is amazing for this team. We have literally locked down the left side of our D and just need to make sure everyone has an NHL partner.

Mantipalo really progressed well this season, if he can take the next step he’ll be an NHL regular who fits with Kleven, Yak will replace Jensen in a year, and Zub is Zub.

That’s rounding into a pretty solid top 6 with only Mantipalo being a question mark in terms of if he can become a full time NHL D.

Not bad
