Johnson + Garrison for Jenner + Savard?

Meh. I'd rather do a 1 for 1 swap of Jenner for Johnson or add a pick/prospect where need be than add Savard in there. He's been a horse on the second pairing for the Jackets. Plus, Garrison is of little value to the Jackets considering they have Werenski, Murray, Johnson, Nutivaara and Harrington who are all lefties.

1 for 1 isn't close. A 2nd doesn't do much as I'd rather just keep Johnson so it would have to be a 1st, I just don't think Johnson is what you'd want for Jenner + 1st. It's why I did the defensive swap as we downgrade at center but upgrade on defense.

The only player mentioned in this thread that I'd even consider trading TJ for is Monahan. The problem is fitting his salary in given our cap crunch, as well as the question of what sort of chemistry he'd have with his prospective linemates in Tampa. A lot depends on what sort of contract Johnson is seeking: if we can sign him in the low to mid $5M range that extra million dollars of cap space compared with Monahan's deal could be critical. And we know TJ has chemistry with Palat, Kucherov, and Killorn; we don't know that about Monahan, nor do we know if Monahan can excel in the postseason to the same degree.

Monahan struggled in the postseason at first, but that's because Hartley had them play a grinder kind of game, so he didn't produce as much, when he was allowed to play more skilled, he produced well. TJ may want 6.5 a year. For this year alone, you can give us a cap dump to even out the salaries.

For Monahan I'd rather do a Lindholm and Hanifin trade instead. Gives us a great top 4, and allows Brodie back on right side. Lindholm is also a right shot, and I think he'll fit great with Gaudreau. He's also bigger than TJ. Yes size is generally overrated, but that's only a 6'1 and 6'3 difference. 5'8 and 6'1 is crucial in the West. Lastly, Carolina can easily take Monahan's cap hit and still get a great center. I think the major concern is can Monahan play in a defensive system, as this year is evident he's struggling. But I feel with more need for skill in the East, and one of the best possession teams in the league, and more time for offense, Monahan can excel with Carolina as well.

Thats an interesting one right out of the gate, though I have not followed RNH closely, has his D game come along? What are his weak assets?

Not sure if he is the right fit and wether he would explode offensivly with the better forwards next to him or if that might even be negativ for him, as he would not be the go to guy on his line..

I know that he is huge in the playoffs, but as evidence by this thread, there are interesting options out there and if Yzerman at some point in the season is looking to get a change in the lockerroom, Johnson is one of the most intersting options IMO. Much rather see him go than Palat or Kucherov. The rest of the forwards do not bring back great returns (Killorn maybe)

Lazar is trending towards Bust territory, we are looking for NHLers.

Good idea, would on top bring some size in the top6.. Would not be against it.

Done deal if we can make the cap fit... Like Monahan a lot.

For Monahan do you value him more than TJ or what? If you do, can we get Vladislav Namewhatever :)dunno:) back as well? If you don't value Monahan as much, for this year alone, you can send a cap dump that can actually hockey and be a solid bottom 6 player, not Clarkson level cap dump however.

Just keep Johnson he's underrated atm and if Yzerman can get kuch at such a steal I would wait and see what he can get Johnson for.

If this is about salary and his RFA status, that's one thing. It's baffling to think they want to move him for hockey reasons. I wouldn't.

This. And even his salary and RFA status aren't compelling reasons to move him (unless his demands are just flat out absurd) when you consider the enormous question mark that is Stamkos.

It just makes zero sense to trade Johnson for a center unless we're upgrading. If we move him at all it'll be for an offensively skilled RHD with Yzerman picking up a replacement center in a separate deal (or putting a hell of a lot of faith in Point, who does have a lot of talent but who would ideally be allowed to develop before putting him in a position where he might have to play 1C if Stamkos goes down again.)
