I guarantee you everyone isn't. I don't see the rooting to fail personally. I believe most of the criticism is directed at the Sens GM and scouting staff.
100% I'm sure the vast majority here would love to see Boucher succeed. Just not sure that same majority finds it likely that he will, and so the criticism SoA stated.

If our current development team can turn Boucher into any type of NHL regular, I'll be impressed. Here's hoping he ends up as a high hitting forward who stays healthy. A poor mans Kiefer Sherwood

And yet he was ranked as a 1st rd player by several different ranking sites, even McKenzie the draft guru had him in the 1st rd, if I remember correctly. I'm not trying to defend the guy he clearly has had a very rough time of it with injuries & it's doubtful he can recover from it & may never make it. We'll see.

Not sure who had him as a 1st other than McKenzie. And McKenzie had him 29th barely a 1st, which is done by a poll of ten scouts, hardly statistically relevant one biased scout (i.e. Ottawa) could have a massive effect on that rating.

The ranking of rankings (using the major ranking sources) had him 49th. Pronman (my favorite) had him 53rd, so that seems about right. His analysis?

Skating: Below-average
Puck Skills: Average
Hockey Sense: Below-average
Compete: High-end

Thats just not a guy you draft at #10 overall. Not his fault. There would be far less talk if he was draft in the later second round as expected, there really would be no complaints.

And no one wants to see him fail, people are not mad at the kid at all, they are mad at a GM that reached far far far above the kids expected draft spot and talent level with a top 10 pick ......
