Love Donny going all in, but in a smart and not reckless way. I wonder if they can re-sign Bertuzzi and Orlov in the offseason. Going to be difficult though

Checked Bertuzzi's stats and interestingly enough he has 9 points in his last 12 games since returning on February 7th. He's having an extremely hard time staying healthy which is a bit of a concern for me given how he was supposed to be insurance on the Hall/Foligno injuries.

He's an agitating guy because he works so hard out there. He's essentially a more skilled, tougher, Brendan Gallagher.

He's not some dork that agitates by calling you a dickhead and then skates around doing nothing. This guy agitates because he goes to the blue paint, works his ass off, mixes it up night in and night out.
I agree. Well put. I'm A long time Wings fan and have always loved that about Bert's game. He isn't going to lick anyone or bring that kind of douchebaggery, but he'll get under the opponent's skin all the same.

Mickey Redmond, Red Wings tv analyst, loves Bert and always refers to him as a junkyard dog, which I find very appropriate. He is more scrappy dog than rat, he is usually the first guy in a scrum when someone is taking liberties with a small or vulnerable teammate (as witnessed the many times he went after Marchand) and he will drop the gloves if necessary. He's skilled, gritty and has plenty of heart. Won playoff MVP for our AHL Grand Rapid Griffins when they won the Calder cup. In an ideal situation (like last season) he can get you 25-30 goals and provide a bottom six mentality in the top six without looking out of place. It's sad he's never been given a chance to play meaningful games in Detroit.

Though injuries have dickered with his play this year, we were just starting to see the old Bert the last week or two. He's a fan favorite in Detroit and will likely be one in Boston. Best I can say about him is he seems to be a great teammate. I'm sad to see him go and clearly the players are as well - Dylan Larkin got pretty emotional when asked about Bert's leaving.

It was a great trade for you all, I'm pissed we did not re-sign him, pissed he went to a team I so thoroughly enjoy rooting against and I'm pissed we couldn't get Lysell in the deal (who I love). Anyways, good luck to you. What an amazing season so far. Enjoy it and remember it.

Apparently he had two injuries this season that were hand injuries....pretty unlucky to injure both hands within a week or so of each other. He did also have a lower body injury unfortunately, which is a bit more worrisome.

One a scale of 1 to 100 how ridiculous is it that he will be a bottom six guy for us and why is it 100?

Yea, it is crazy, but you're top two lines are so stacked I can't see him cracking them unless injuries occur. I'd put it at a solid 85 on the ridiculous meter. Wouldn't put it at 100 because Bert has a lot of good qualities you want in a middle six forward, so I can see the appeal for such a deep team.
I will say that when needed to fill in top six, he will not look out of place. He's got a very good hockey mind.
He won't replace a Pastrnak or anything, but he'll provide top six level of skill and play
