I wonder if they'll start having a new annual preseason game in Vegas between the Kings and the new Vegas team as the last preseason game for both teams.

Disappointed to see they won't be wearing each one of their jerseys throughout the history of the Kings. That proposed jersey seems to drab and dull.

More than a year ago, we heard there was some internal discussion about wearing each of the Kings major jerseys from the franchise’s history during their 50th season. From what we have been told, that idea has been scrapped. Instead, they will be rolling out a new jersey to commemorate their special season. a few minor details still being ironed out, we’ve been lead to believe it is expected to look similar to the design above.

I like how he takes credit for "hearing there was some internal discussion" when Jim Fox told the entire world on at least one telecast that the Kings were planning to wear each one of their uniforms during several games next season.

Oof.

The new third looks like ****. Doubt they go with that mock-up. Until hearing anything official, I think I will go with the original idea of wearing all of the various uniforms in their history next season.

The jersey is basically the stadium series jersey, which looks alright. Our current third jerseys (purple +gold) look much better though.

Speaking of classic jerseys, they made a point of saying that nick nixons legend night was the only time we'd see the vintage purple and yellow this year. What about the other two legend nights?

Just wearing our normal jerseys?

Who said that?

My season tix booklet has them wearing the classic gold jerseys the remaining two legends nights.

Love the 2 games in Vegas for Frozen Fury, hate the jersey. Did the Kings not learn from the stadium series jersey which sits and will continue to sit in any store that sells jerseys. Combine forum blue and gold, Gretzky era and current jersey and you'd have a winner. A grey and white boring jersey WILL NOT SELL!

I guess I'll bump this thread with this article from Helene Elliott on the 50th anniversary of Los Angeles being granted an NHL franchise.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-kings-50-years-elliott-20160209-9-column.html

On Feb. 9, 1966, the NHL granted a conditional franchise to Cooke, as well as to groups in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Oakland and Minnesota. It was a coup for Cooke, then 53.

"I don't think I've ever been happier," he told The Times that day. "I'm thrilled to death. This is the best news I've had in years. I feel like I'm now one echelon above the president of the United States….I was born in Canada and in Canada, every boy has one dream. He doesn't dream of becoming prime minister; he dreams of the day he can become a professional hockey player. I share those same dreams. And since I'm a little too old to play the game, I did the next-best thing."

Another article from Helene today covering the different eras over the 50 year existence of the Kings:

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-kings-by-decade-20160209-story.html

Since debuting in October 1967, after Cooke paid $2 million to join the NHL, they've had 24 head coaches, eight general managers and four ownership changes.

The first team featured a nickname-heavy cast — as per Cooke's wishes — with the likes of Eddie "The Jet" Joyal and Bill "Cowboy" Flett joining players with less politically correct monikers.

Four players with a significant Kings' affiliation are in the Hockey Hall of Fame: Marcel Dionne (inducted in 1992), Wayne Gretzky (1999), Luc Robitaille (2009) and Rob Blake (2014).

From their quirky early days to the more recent glory days, much has unfolded for the Kings.

A decade-by-decade look at the highs and lows of an often eclectic franchise, which was once in bankruptcy, had a former owner (Bruce McNall) land in prison and a coach (Pat Quinn) suspended by the league for accepting a job with the Vancouver Canucks while still employed by the Kings.

Thanks Ziggy, I've posted these links in the GDT as well. Good reading.
