Post-Game Talk: Turns out it wasn't about the playoffs, but about the friends we made along the way.

Another one in the books.

Not the way any of us wanted (save for those on Team Tank after the 1st loss of each season).

But no matter what, it’s ride or die.

Through all the ups and downs, couldn’t ask for a better bunch to go through it with.

We are all Canucks.

Now let’s get this offseason going.

I'm probably passing off my neighbors fired up jbl eons van halen lol

My takeaway from this season...

I'm just hoping guys like Drance and Farhan have some questions for management during the end of year presser that piss them off.

For both the informational value the answers might bring and the lulz.
Not a chance, they would be censored and their credentials revoked.

It is worth their jobs to be anything but very mildly critical of anything the team does.

ALL main media is now beholding to the NHL and Rogers with very few exceptions.
One damn radio station in Vancouver that plays canned international sports stuff half the time.

I mean the team is less talented with Miller out replaced by Chytil and MP.

So it was a year we took a step back for sure.

This. Very much a transitional year, kinda like the 2007-08 season.

If we could time travel to the start of the season and tell ourselves the following would happen over the season:

-JT Miller traded in a Kesler style trade scenario, rumblings hang over the team like a dark cloud.
-Vezina calibre goaltender remains sidelined for most of the season.
-Significant number of injuries to key players including Norris winning Hughes, 1C Pettersson, 2D Hronek, top winger in Boeser et al including finishing the season without our top 2 centres.

Pretty sure the unanimous response would be “…so we’re missing the playoffs then”.

Absolutely disappointing and frustrating season given the positive progress last season, but on the other hand that we were still firmly in a playoff spot until injuries piled up down the stretch suggests we’re not total trash?

I’m cautiously optimistic.

Defence is largely rebuilt now, team is much younger now. Several E Pettersson, Willander, Lekkerimaki, Raty, et al may be mainstays by this time next year.

Some work to restructure our forward group, but workable. Skill obviously at a premium, size and speed through neutral zone will continue to be a priority.

The health of Demko and rebounding of Pettersson will be major factors next year, also the status of Tochett.

Small step back this year, bigger step forward next season. LFG!

One of those seasons where you go “don’t smile because it’s over, cry because it happened.”

Life of a Canucks fan, on to the next one. Didn’t think when I was 21 I’d wait this long to see the Canucks make the playoffs in back to back seasons, yet 12 years later here we are still waiting.
At least you followed a great team in your teenage / formative years. It’s wild that someone who is like 22 today has basically only seen one legit playoff run with the Canucks. A whole generation of Canucks fans. Will be interesting to see what the long term effect on the team’s fanbase.

By contrast, when I was really young I remember Bure and Mogilny, was 8 for the 94 run so only remember aspects, was young enough that the Messier / Keenan years were too impactful, and came of age as the west coast express was coming together and the Canucks re-acquired Linden.

I've watched all of the Canucks' Stanley Cup runs - 1982, 1994, 2011. (or almost runs)

In 1982 we had tv and radio.

In 1994 we had the world wide web and Yahoo though we didn't use it much. I still remember each page taking so long to load with the dial up modem.

In 2011 we had social media including HFBoards!!

I'm thinking the next time they make a cup run we will be watching AI generated games while drinking margaritas on a simulated beach on Mars...

Yeah, 2010 was a spectacular run for the scummy Chicago Blackhawks.

Reactions: Coffee and quat
What a cursed season this was. Good riddance!

Hopefully we can look back at this year and say that it was an important building block to something better. I'm optimistic about the blue line and the development system that has been put in place.

Get Tocchet signed, get a good off season of training for Petey, and let's get back to competing next season.
