I don't think anybody likes having hard conversations with people who aren't cutting it. But dealing with underperforming individuals is one of the most important things leaders do. The key is catching it and addressing it early, before it gets out of hand. Some leaders will avoid that conversation and hope it'll fix itself, and it rarely ends well.

I've put people on Action Plans, and in a lot of cases, the individual has corrected their behavior, kept their job and thrived. As a leader, that's incredibly rewarding.

....I've also had to show a few to the door. But when I did it, it was with a clear conscience that I did everything within reason to try to help them first.

I did not know that, so thank you! I am always open to knowledge.

I'm curious Aussie, what is the most popular brand of chocolate in your part of the world? Also, do you have a chocolatier that I should know about, that maybe hasn't broken the international market yet?

Cadbury is our biggest brand. A UK company of course, but had a local branch here for a long time. Then probably Nestle and Lindt. In terms of truly local producers, there are two that operate at any sort of scale - Haigh's and Darrell Lea. Haigh's in particular make good chocolate but it's still not as good as the Swiss and Belgian stuff and I doubt you could find it anywhere overseas. Worth keeping an eye out for though, especially if you ever venture this way!

Gotta hang a towel ring, three TVs, five speakers, run the front channel wiring of a 5.1 surround, and assemble a big laundry cart for the laundry chute.

I can feel some anxiety building, rapidly, and normally I’ll go into fight or flight mode. In this case, fight means work until i fall asleep, never stopping to sit down at all

Should be a productive day

I don't buy it. You mean Cooper would land in the wilderness of Oregon, wrap up his parachute and take it with him? I think burning it or burying it would probably be more likely. Still think he died that night. IIRC, not a single dollar of ransom money has surfaced in circulation since that night either.

We used to give our mother Godiva chocolates on her birthday.

She loved chocolate.

Our networking team made major changes last night. Huge issues today across the board. Perfect timing for it too. I didn’t get shit done and I’m a f***ing wreck now

Sooooo in an act of depression I did what any reasonable adult would do. Booked a Caribbean vacation

My duplex neighbor texts me "can I see Miss Hattie?" So Hattie goes over for a visit. Then while we're talking, Hattie investigates her side of the duplex. She goes in a back room, a few minutes later comes out with something in her mouth.

It was a 4 inch long dead flattened lizard. :help:

Me and my neighbor were both grossed out lol. She couldn't figure out where Hattie found it. Her apartment is super clean, our best guess is it got into a closet somewhere and died. Hattie is good at finding all sorts of things lol. She brought her one of her socks too. just make yourself at home, Hattie.

If Cooper didn't survive the jump, he must have ended up in woods so thick that even the massive search back then and the amateur investigations of today haven't found his body, the money bags, the chute, etc. Even a placard from the aft stairs of the plane was found by a hunter in 1978. The original lead FBI agent occasionally flew his own private plane over the alleged drop zone, searching for anything. Oh well, perhaps D.B. Cooper was the Zodiac or one of the Anglin brothers. ;-)

Oh no. I am so sorry. My sisters Sealyham terroir has lymphoma and she just turned 7.
My wife (vet) is starting her on chemo this week

Hopefully we caught it early enough it does something.

The symptom was that she wouldn't eat. Took her in for an exam and blood work.

Wife says no non vet would think anything is wrong but a stomach bug

I've decided it was time to combine my tools unto a single type so I'm getting this same kit for Xmas from the wife, only its Craftsman instead of Milwaukee. I'm very excited. Its only replacing my power drill, flashlight, and saws all. The other tools I wanted and decided combining under one type was a better move than adding more randoms. Shared batteries are so key.

I'll gift the old Saws All and having a second power drill never hurt anything.
