We did fried turkey last year. Really good. They have to be specific tho to tell people not to stuff your turkey if you are going to deep fry it....lol

Holiday thread this year ?

We had my Friend Thanksgiving this past weekend and the hosts roasted a turkey and fried one. The roasted turkey was very tasty but the fried was out of this world. Almost a week later and I’m still thinking about it.

We have a small-ish celebration so I stick with the classics but I’ll look forward to my friends cooking it every year.

We also have a smoker and I smoked a breast one year with applewood and cider for the liquid. It was good, but I prefer the classic tastes/flavors on Thanksgiving.

There's a local restaurant that does a free Thanksgiving meal from 12 to 2 or until they run out. Open to anybody.... singles with no family in the area, homeless, first responders, no criteria. They just don't want anyone to be alone on Thanksgiving. They've done this for several years now. They also turned their restaurant into a to-go grocery store for essentials during the Covid lock downs in 2020. Nice people.

All this American Thanksgiving Turkey Talk reminds me of this:

Made a riff on my favorite Thanksgiving appetizer for lunch.

The appetizer is shredded cheddar and apple on puff pastry, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with finishing salt and thyme. I made a version of that on naan and added bacon and arugula as a flatbread. It's a delight.

I handled mine earlier this week. After dialing both my HR director and Delta Dental MA thrice. I came to the conclusion that nobody knows how dental insurance works in this state, including the insurance companies and the dental offices that send them the bills.

Completely useless. I opted for the most robust family dental plan I could get, since the twins will both be needing braces next year. Hopefully the coverage works out as I understand it, otherwise I will have wasted a not-so-small sum of money on premiums

We only offer one plan of each type (medical, dental, vision). I wish we gave people more options but alas, that decision is above my pay grade.

I hate dealing with insurance companies but that's a rant for another day...
