Marinaro getting destroyed on X:

Use X translate feature if needed. Several juicy replies. :sarcasm:

Not sure I get what that commenter is trying to present as an argument in his frustrated way. He's still talking about two national teams in international play, not a provincial team vs. a national team.

Tony has his flaws, but he's 100% right on this subject. Instead of these politicians focusing on how many Québécois are not on Team Canada at the WJC, this 4-Nations tourny or any other competition, they should focus on fixing the problems in this province at the grass roots level. Quebec has fallen behind big time compared to the rest of Canada, USA, and Europe.

Maybe make the game affordable instead? I grew up in the heart of the city , went to big public schools my whole life , I can count on one hand the amount of kids I knew growing up who played organised hockey , and they all stopped at 12-13-14

It's not my fight, but from the outside looking in at least, this just seems incredibly small and pointless. This won't achieve a thing for provincial hockey, outside of scoring a few temporary points for a few politicians. It's all show with zero actual substance. Plus, it's putting all the focus on a sport that literally hundred of thousands of kids these days don't even play or care about to begin with. There are plenty of Quebecois on the soccer national team and on the basketball national team, just to name these two sports. What about them ? Don't they count as success stories ?

It needs to be more affordable, but it also has to be open to evolving. Because every time I listen, former pro hockey players offer to help youth coaches teach kids how to play, but when the former player shows them drills, the coach of the kids' team tells the former player that it's not how they do things. This is something Gilbert Delorme has shared as an experience of his on the radio. And he says this is common with other former pro players who want to volunteer their time to help.

Francois Legault had formed a committee that included Marc Denis to submit a report on what needs to be done to help hockey in the province. Denis and his team provided Legault with said report years ago, but nothing has been done since. Jocelyn Thibault was the head of Hockey Québec and he quit after a two years because he realized that all his efforts to help the province was being met with resistance by regional organizations.

So it definitely needs to be more affordable, but the way they operate also needs to go through an overhaul. And the worst part is that it probably won't be because a lot of people prefer to hold onto their positions than to actually want to help improve the way things are done.

Hockey is the same price pretty much everywhere across the country, so it's a barrier to us getting the level of talent we used to get, but it does not explain why Quebec in particular is falling behind the rest of Canada.. this post above is a far more accurate depiction of why.

Being more archaic and resistant to change than Hockey Canada is a choice. Hockey Canada itself is botching player development and goalie development. Hockey Quebec taking it a step further.

When you stop hearing Tony in this clip is when they hung up on him. But on BPM Sports, he was still going. In the middle of his rant, you hear the busy line when they hang up and Tony is still going.

Jones & Keefe got bombarded by commentors who tagged them and Tony to point out the troll job. And that's how they know it's Tony. But at the moment, they thought it was a legit caller from Boston.

I hope BPM Sports posts the full Marinaro clip.

Love him or hate him. Agree or disagree with what he says, Tony is different.
