Friedman: Trouba potentially elbowing the market

I know Carlson, Trouba, and Gudas arent world beaters, and are on the older side, but whats Anaheim's plan here? Not often do you lose your entire right side defence in one offseason
Hopefully they'll cough up a 2nd rounder for Carlo. Even if Toronto has to add a 4th or 5th rounder to Carlo to make it happen.

great players but they need a veteran to guide them. Nurse is that guy
lol of nurse was right handed I’d take him tbh… I expect us to kick tires on Parayko/hronek and risto.

A guy like Murphy might make be another option.

Hell PV moves in the shadows, he might end up getting someone no one is even thinking about

Jensen would be a good veteran add for cheap. You don't need a world-beater, just a guy who can give the bottom-pairing candidates some competition. If your defense needs upgrades, an in-season trade can take care of business.
Agreed, we’ll see…. But eventually you have to see what you have with your young guys. PV will find an old head to play with the kids. Bringing back older guys just prevents the young guys from getting mins

Zellweger can play right
Luneau needs to be in the NHL, he’s ready
Moore/helleson need play time so we can see what they are.
Solberg is pretty close to nhl ready, could make the team out of camp potentially.

And let's not forget, Lacombe played on his off side in college, his rookie NHL season, and for USA at worlds. They have some flexibility there.

Their veterans were, frankly, their most mistake-prone guys during the playoffs. I thought their young guys played well ... Lacombe was fantastic of course, Mintyukov was solid, even Hinds/Helleson held up nicely as a 3rd pairing. Moore can go back to the blueline full time, and Zellweger played some of his best hockey against Vegas.

If that (plus Luneau) is what they have to roll with to start the year ... it's definitely on the young side. But it's not a "no idea if these guys belong in the NHL" type of young D corps, I'm pretty confident in saying they have 6 NHL caliber D even without a single veteran returning.

Well they likely saw that all 3 can’t skate well and if they have cup aspirations or atleast progress, they identified a weakness and will look elsewhere to fill the RD

Sort of. I think people hear that it's all in CA and think it's close, but SJ to LA is pretty much the same distance as New York to Pittsburgh. Or for those in the north, Montreal to Toronto.
I know the west is more spread out than the east, but compared to teams not in LA, the Sharks are pretty close, relatively-speaking.
