Hmmm. I dunno, wasn't your traditional slewfoot, but I guess probably correct call. I think he just had too much speed coming in. Really bad result for Spurgeon though.
Hal kind of sees it as Spurgeon wasn't expecting ZLH to lift his stick which put him in a bad position and the contact kind of led to something like a slewfoot but nothing about it looked like an intentional slewfoot.

Will definitely have to watch that replay many times before really deciding on that one. Did not look like a good play but it feels like the leg contact there came as Spurgeon was already falling back, reminds me of the Tomasino-Gilbert "slewfoot" which I thought was total bullshit.

Yeah, that seems a fair assessment. I can understand why they ruled as they did (and if it was the opposite I'd probably want them to as well) but it's probably a bit harsh on L'Heureux, who I don't think was trying to make a dirty play.

Hal Gill doesn't really think that was slewfoot. I'm listening so I can't see it. I tend to trust Hal on that stuff, if it was Mason it would be different.
It was more about a young player running out of space and not being mindful of his body position

The change with that play is that Stamkos is now the center and he drove the goalie to his left and made the play back to Marchessault. Earlier in the year, both Stamkos and Marchy would be waiting for someone to give them the puck on their tape and our brilliant coach kept changing the center every other shift. Like March said, he had no idea who he was playing with from one second to the next.

The current configuration does come at a cost. Forsberg is the defensively responsible forward (as can be seen in the replay) and seems to no longer be in the scoring mix (0 goals this month). I think that is a great misuse of resources, since Fil is a gifted scorer. But I suppose it was too much to ask to try someone like Parssinen in that role. :eyeroll:
Exactly the point I was trying to make was the pass that Stammer made as a center is the type feeds both he and March need when they are on the wing. There is no doubt it has taken a toll on Forsbergs goal production playing on that line. But pre season that was not the plan. Now many may disagree but Forsberg until this year has not had two other prolific scoring wingers on the roster but that would be a net positive for him. It should remove some pressure when he plays with Oriley. Stammer is not the center he was when he came into the league that's given but he and March still needs to be fed like Stammer did on Marchs goal earlier. At this point should Foresberg be put back with Oriley sure looks like it but who knows.

There is another example Zucci's goal right there is what March and Stammer should be doing with someone feeding them the puck.

Hey, that Luke Schenn fella we were told we’d react rationally to just left a player completely undefended sliding in the back door for a goal. Y’all continue to maintain rational reactions though…..
At this point we are all more surprised when Schenn does his job than if he doesn't. If we picked apart all of his mistakes the entire thread would be nothing but that.

Annun was having a strong game. Then boom what three minutes seal the game.

This is like the early days score a couple goals and hope like hell to hold on for points.

It would go a long way if the goaltending could channel Vokoun for a while. Instead when scored on far too often just a couple minutes later they give up another.
